DRC: PARLIAMENT HAS SPARKED A POLITICAL CONFRONTATION THAT COULD END WITH TSHISEKEDI’S GOVERNMENT FALLING** On Friday, October 23, 2026, the National Assembly of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) adopted a law establishing the procedures for organizing a referendum. The law could pave the way for amendments to any provision of the Constitution or the adoption of an entirely new Constitution. This move could ignite a major political confrontation in the DRC, as constitutional changes are a highly sensitive issue that can trigger serious tensions between the government and the opposition, particularly if citizens perceive them as an attempt to alter the country's political system or cling to power under President Félix Tshisekedi. Political analysts should question whether President Félix Tshisekedi’s government is prepared for the potential consequences of this decision. While some may view it as an attempt to change the country's laws for political gain, others may see it as a serious national issue that requires open debate and the participation of citizens and all relevant institutions. The Constitution is the foundation of a country's governance. Therefore, any amendments must comply with the law, respect citizens’ rights, and avoid actions that could plunge the country into unrest. **The critical question is this:** Does Tshisekedi’s government understand the potential political consequences of this decision, or is it taking a step that could intensify tensions and make the situation increasingly difficult to control if citizens rise up to defend their rights? @drcJosephKabila @CNangaa @fatshi13 @MONUSCO @antonioguterres @US_SrAdvisorAF @SecRubio @PaulKagame @WilliamsRuto @KagutaMuseveni @SuluhuSamia @CyrilRamaphosa @officialABAT @JDMahama @HHichilema @HassanSMohamud @GeneralNeva @EmmanuelMacron @realDonaldTrump @narendramodi @MarkJCarney @LulaOficial @JMilei @petrogustavo @nayibbukele @Claudiashein @Keir_Starmer @GiorgiaMeloni @ZelenskyyUa @donaldtusk @sanchezcastejon @TamimBinHamad @IntlCrimCourt @_AfricanUnion @UN_Women
