Copy Complaint: unnecessary quotation marks. Ton of hilarious examples, but I see it all the time in serious writing. Remember: quotes don't add emphasis. They quote. So instead, use bold text, underlines, even ALL CAPS. But "please" stop this...

Copy secret: put the big price first. "Thanks for buying my $97 course. Subscribe to my feed for only $4 more" In sales this is called the Contrast Principle $4 is nothing next to $97 Same thing in car sales (tires, coating) & bespoke suits (shirts, shoes) Go big $$ first.

Sales trick: "expensive = good" Famous story: Sid, a 1930s tailor pretended he was almost deaf. When a customer tried on a suit, he'd yell: "How much for that suit?" Sid's brother: "42 dollars!" Sid to customer: "I think he said 22 dollars" The customer bought immediately.

Micro-copy is tiny UX text. And it's so easy to get wrong. Buttons mislabelled, bad accessibility, poor copy design on premium websites. Because short text is harder to write. Example from a major bank - this should be "send" not "resend" Maybe only writers care 😂

Improv is great for writers Improv teaches: - idea creation - how to turn off the editing brain and just start - how to quickly establish the Who, What, and Where You'll never become a famous actor on SNL. But studying improv is fun, social, and improves your writing.

Visiting Vancouver today, running along the Sea Wall. Exercise & fresh air clear out my cobwebs and lock in a good sleep. The best way to generate good ideas. Writers. Log off for a few hours. Get out there!
