When we had our gas cut off because we couldn’t afford the bill, we stayed warm with space heaters. I came into my children’s room one day to find smoke and flames pouring out from the outlet. Tragedies like what just happened in NYC are preventable. They’re policy choices.

@CoriBush Because you plugged in too many heaters, we need to revise what happens when businesses don’t get paid for services rendered. Got it!
@CoriBush Nope as sad as that story is it’s a responsibility choice by adults.
@CoriBush My heating unit has been broken for months. I have one old base heater that works a little. I turn it off at night. We live in public housing in Il.
@CoriBush The article says that the space heater malfunctioned and that the residents were using the heater to supplement the building’s heat, which was turned on.
@CoriBush @Biaggi4NY Biaggi should have prevented that by ensuring the tenants had adequate heat. Biaggi is reactive, not proactive.
@CoriBush For sure… we have been told since the inception of the nation that poverty is inevitable… that America is a zero sum game…,it’s BS that is fed to us through racist colored glasses to get people to continue to harm themselves and others by voting to enrich the ruling class…
@CoriBush Everyone keeps talking about the space heater but there’s little coverage of why it was needed! This building had more than two dozen violations.
@CoriBush 💔 Philadelphia, then NYC. Breathtakingly tragic loss of life.
