A study of the hepatitis cases seen in Israel reveals they were likely a delayed consequence of COVID-19. The average delay was 74 days (range 21-130). This is almost certainly why we’ve mostly seen negative COVID-19 PCR tests in affected kids. No adenovirus found in liver.🧵

@PeterHotez If @moderna_tx had a higher eff and achieved immunobridging with 2 doses, wouldn’t it be better to get that vaccine with the reality of knowing that the kids will get a 3rd shot after trial? Will we get out of the pattern of kids being a year behind everyone else w 2nd gen vaxx?

@RRRuffian @CDCgov It’s not a guarantee… long covid also impacts perfectly healthy kids. Also, my child has medical conditions that out her at risk so I would like the opportunity to vaccinate my kids. I don’t care what anyone else’s kids do but mine need this. Thanks!

@CDCgov Too bad my kids don’t get to experience such wonderful things bc of the deadly pandemic still occurring today and a lack of covid vaccines available to my kids under 5! Focus all your energy on vaccinating my kids!!!!
