@TurboJJones @PlanetRugby Is that why The 6 Nations has the highest average stadium attendance of any sport in the world? How’s Super Rugby doing? The more Aus and Nz try and make rugby like rugby league, the more fans they lose.

@bensmithrugby If 2015 was your golden era, how do you want us to view your 2 point semi-final win over a Bok team that lost to Japan?

@SARugbymag Given how much you cover the debate around the Boks, the scrum and rugby’s laws, I’d love your take on this. davidortlepp.substack.com/p/how-do-you-s…

@jameswhile Given your analysis of the Bok scrum, I suspect you’ll have a view on this. Why should the response to one country becoming exceptionally good at scrummaging be to reduce the value of the scrum? In virtually every other sport, dominance produces imitation and tactical innovation. Why should rugby be different? davidortlepp.substack.com/p/how-do-you-s…

@jimhamilton4 Would love your thoughts on this: When the All Blacks dominated rugby, everyone tried to become more like them. Now the Boks dominate, we hear calls to depower scrums, restrict the Bomb Squad and increase ball-in-play. Why are we trying to change what they're good at rather than asking everyone else to get better? davidortlepp.substack.com/p/how-do-you-s…

@danielgallan I’ve enjoyed your writing on the Boks and the wider argument around how rugby should evolve. I’ve approached it from a slightly different angle here; when does changing rugby “for the spectacle” become changing rugby because one team has become exceptionally good at parts of it? Would be interested in your take. davidortlepp.substack.com/p/how-do-you-s…

When the All Blacks dominated rugby, everyone else tried to catch them. With the Springboks, increasingly the answer seems to be: change the laws that make their strengths valuable. I’ve written about the scrum, Bomb Squad, ball-in-play obsession and the evidence behind it. @RugbyPass - I sent this through to you and would love to get it in front of the right editor. davidortlepp.substack.com/p/how-do-you-s…

@jaredwright17 Given how much you’ve written about the Boks and the scrum, I’d be interested in your take. My argument: rugby is increasingly treating SA excellence as a problem to be legislated away rather than something opponents should overcome davidortlepp.substack.com/p/how-do-you-s…?

@bensmithrugby Lomax is a tight head mate, he has to scrum with his head inside of Ox…he is lined up incorrectly to start…how can they engage if his head is in line with Ox’s?

@KalahariThe @bensmithrugby You're proving his point - Cullen is never discussed as the greatest ever player, is he? The best 15 maybe, but he is not in the same convo as Carter or McCaw etc. Du pont might be the best 9, but he has only won player of the year once. Once. McCaw and Carter 3 times each.
