Predatory academic publishers must die. In fact, for-profit academic publishers must go away. Even non-profit publishers that are not open access must disappear, or else change their economic model. Look at JMLR, ICLR, NeurIPS, ICML: all free and open access with no fees.

Good paper on a GAN-VAE hybrid. What I like most is the math in their derivation of the objective function. Every probability distribution is properly defined and there is no major trick or leap-of-faith involved. arxiv.org/pdf/2004.10267…

I received this letter from a farmer in northeast Kansas. His wife is ill and he is aging. He sent me 1 of 5 N95 masks he has from farming to pass on to a doctor or nurse in New York. This is humanity at its best. I share his letter as inspiration.
