things my univ pres would never say (or if he did would lead me suspecting serious head injury or alien takeover of his mind) 1. That's a good point, I hadn't thought of that 2. of course, this is just my current view, perhaps with more info I'll change my mind add your own

told a colleague & friend that I'm applying for other jobs...you'd have thought I was sharing a very well designed plan for a prison break with a fellow prisoner...she was so delighted for me & the thought that *one* of us might be getting out

angry this am. our salaries were cut, retirement contributions paused - without disc with us. when asked about compensation, admin treats it as a crazy request. now a capital campaign begins for new buildings & programs. not one word on the $ we have claim to but won't get.

genuine question: is there research investigating whether teaching about microaggressions causes negative experiences because students are, as a result of the teaching, seeing racism when before they wouldn't have? again, a genuine question, not trying to stir up problems.

when I mess up in class (say something too quickly or sharply to a student) it's a really good thing I don't have easy access to the means to just stop living. Because that's how horrible I feel.

it's pretty clear to me that few faculty care enough about faculty governance to really make it work. and they'll regret it when they realize the consequences.

filling out the"great colleges to work for" survey & want something stronger than "strongly disagree" for some of these - "vehemently disagree"? "profoundly disagree"?

Students, saying you prioritized other classes over mine & now need more time to get your work in, is not the route to getting an incomplete. Prioritizing some classes over other makes sense, but live with, instead of trying to avoid, the consequences of that decision

currently annoyed by admin that incentivize (via additional $$) faculty leaving the classroom to do other work but then don't provide $$ to replace faculty. So dept ends up subsidizing admin's needs & students lose out. How does this make sense?
