@paulg @sfmcguire79 You can actually tell that across all colleges, Math majors are obviously better quantitatively but also better verbally than half of humanities majors.

It drives me nuts when some research is like “new tech X claims to be good for the environment, but it actually uses more CO2” because that’s basically always ignoring the massive efficiency gains that always happen when you scale up production 1,000,000x

my only tweet about the submersible is that these "you only care because they're rich white men" pieces are dumb aljazeera.com/opinions/2023/… we cared re Thai cave boys and Chilean miners, who weren't white or rich. It's "people stuck with time running out" that's compelling

There's a deep and important point here IMO... The appropriate points of comparison for the output of large language models like GPT-4 is *not* ideal truth, but rather: - The most common answer on Google - What the government official site says (if findable! if comprehensible!)

2. Password Safety 101 If your password is 8 lowercase letters, hackers can brute force it instantly. If your password is a mix of 18 numbers, lower/uppercase, and symbols -- it takes hackers 26 trillion years to brute force it.

The skill I urge everyone to strengthen is critical thinking. Whenever you don’t fully understand something: ask “why?” and “how?” and get those answers. Dig deep if need to. When you think critically, you might not follow the masses at all times. And when you do: you know why.
