“When you wake up in the morning, Pooh,” said Piglet, “what’s the first thing you say to yourself?” “What’s for breakfast?” said Pooh. “I say, I wonder what’s going to happen exciting TODAY?” said Piglet. Pooh nodded thoughtfully. “It’s the same thing,” he said. #PancakeDay

Ofsted. Inspection. The sheer relentless stupid bollocks of it all. Too much power, not enough meaning or credibility.. and everyone has to dance the bloody tune. Time to put it out of its misery and everyone else’s so they can get on with the real work.

The aim should be to work collaboratively to make every school great. Not to pit schools against each other. So every parent can happily send their child to their local school.

We asked over 3,000 school leaders about Ofsted’s plans for inspectors to make graded sub-judgements. 92% told us they are opposed. Ofsted needs to go back to the drawing board, urgently reconsider these ill-thought-through plans, and listen to the profession.

National Association of Head Teachers announces that a snap poll of 3,000 school leaders has seen them "overwhelmingly reject" Ofsted's reform plans., with 92% disagreeing "with the proposal to introduce...five-point graded judgements across eight to 10 different areas."

To continue my amplification of media from Monday - here's my friend Julia Waters, sister of Ruth Perry, talking with LBC's Emma Corr...

Damning verdict on new Ofsted inspection plans from Ruth Perry’s sister Julia Waters. She’s told me an online ‘Report Card’ system, where areas of a school are graded, will still ‘publicly shame and humiliate’ headteachers. @LBC @LBCNews

Mr P is steeped in education, absolutely passionate about it, but it's not just his voice, or my voice, or Julia Waters' voice, there are more and more voices adding to this chorus of disapproval. Ofsted want a consultation, give them a consultation. Tell them they are wrong.

Incoming rant about Ofsted announcement of their report cards which they think are going to improve things when it’ll be just more of the same.

Can't remember an education policy development getting such a concerted kicking from union leaders, including headteachers, since...the last government, as has happened this morning with Ofsted's plans to reform itself. Will Bridget Phillipson really go forward with it all?

The layout focuses attention on what is wrong not on what is good (we read left to right in English and the table is presented from left to right; what is wrong to what is right). So, the first information you read is the most negative aspect of the evaluation…

What is being assessed may be clearer but there are no improvements to the way in which complaints about inspection judgements are dealt with. As with inspector conduct, there is no independent adjudication for disputing an inspection’s conclusions...

Each ‘evaluation area’ can be drilled down into for a summary description. So, to be clear, the ‘new’ system is literally more of the same; yes, there is more detail in the reports but there are also more points to the grading system, and more areas to the headline grades…

Buried within the proposed changes are certainly elements of reform I can celebrate, albeit from the perspective of being amazed that they weren’t considered essential to Ofsted’s operation prior to this moment in time…

No, apparently the changes to Ofsted are solely a response to Ofsted’s own initiative, the ‘Big Listen’. How can the sector embrace Ofsted’s reforms when Ofsted doesn’t even acknowledge the faults that made it necessary to reform in the first place?...

Yet again I’m hearing about inspectors asking leaders to break ELGs down into termly objectives. Something the DFE advises against and their own documents say they won’t do. It’s so bloomin tiresome. Make. it.Stop.
