@mattlodder @_KateForbes Probably, because ‘servant-hearted’ witness is a large part of Forbes’ faith - see Samuel - when the people of Israel called for a King, and he said, it’s a bad idea, he still anointed a king for them.

Don’t have any dog in this fight, but want to see the online debate understand both positions, rather than just emotional vilification of the other side - also not a popular approach, I know

That might not be a popular approach; but at least Forbes is consistent in the application of her faith to her position, and honest. To have a faith where you believe in private that homosexuality is anathema, but that you publicly say the opposite is hypocrisy.

This reasonable position fails to understand that Christianity, @_KateForbes’ faith, is a ‘public faith’ one that is called to ‘bare witness’ in all areas. Private religion is alien to the very concept of Christianity, it is like saying ‘be gay just keep it behind closed doors’.

What you practice in your own time, and how you subscribe to live your life is your business, but as a lawmaker, if you choose to allow your religion to try and deny me my basic human rights, then *you* make it my business. (4/10)

@mir_f1980 @MichelleBayly @zarahsultana And yet the Bible also commands that we should care for the orphans, the poor, the widows and the foreigner - note that even Old Testament Israel had a food "bank" system for those who couldn't afford food in the Temple

Every time you had a friend, took a piece of advice, shared a laugh, or cried with someone else - even your parent, you have been created by your society. You are human and you were not made to be alone.

There is no such thing a self made person. Every time you've used a road, school, hospital or anything else to get where you are - society has helped to build you.

This genuine feeling: "Bereadment: The time period after you finish a really good book where you're upset that it's over." (urbandictionary.com/define.php?ter…) So what's the term for your follow-up/rebound book, where you go through loads of books until you discover that "bereadment" again?

Let's remember to unite by talking, learning and embracing differences not dividing who can and can not tell fictional stories. We learn and grow through perspective shifts not echo chambers. [2/2]

We're all different - our experiences are not the same. The role of any artist is to place themselves deeply into the being of each character, to research, observe, and learn. To translate that learning into compassionate understanding to give life to fictional characters. [1/2]
