The USPTO publishes new pending patent applications weekly on Thursdays. One new U.S. patent application that published today that I found interesting is US20260316292 to @Figure_robot. The ’292 publication is generally directed to a humanoid robot that determines the position and orientation of its own parts from cameras on the body. A body self-perception model running on the robot receives images from at least a camera in the head and a camera on or near a hand, finds keypoints at visually distinguishable features on components or around joints, and determines a six-degree-of-freedom pose for each tracked part. That pose is provided to an onboard AI system, which uses it to generate motor commands that control the position and movement of those parts in a closed loop. I think this is the wrong lens. With software decompilation opening the floodgates, registered IP becomes even more valuable. If not for copyright and patents, what other recourse would Adobe have?!
