And it barely makes a ripple? Gross—all around. We call out Malkin and so there’s no reason we shouldn’t call out the president for indulging and promoting her.
The firings of multiple Inspectors General is unprecedented; doing so
without good cause chills the independence essential to their purpose. It is a threat to accountable democracy and a fissure in the constitutional balance of power.
It’s discouraging enough to watch the tape of these knuckledraggers harassing a reporter who’s just doing his job by covering their protest (and who produced an even-handed segment for his local newscast).
But to see the President pile on, bullying a civilian... it’s nauseating.

I like listening to @JonahRemnant because they joke, and are sometimes somber about, the unfortunate fact that there are evidently like 5 or so conservatives left in the nation. While it is no list of greivances, it is reassuring/depressing post-2016.

Bloody hell...Michelle Malkin's descent into fringe rage blogging has been one of the most disappointing in recent memory. I'm not even mad...just sad. I read this entire article and I can tell you it's the last click I'll ever give her. Even out of curiosity.

Watching POTUS in recent days, his behavior is so bad that you'd worry about his stability even if he was merely the assistant to the regional manager at Dunder Mifflin. Even most of his supporters would be alarmed at behavior like that from their bosses in their own workplaces.
I would say to my Trump-defender friends: Take a quick break from media criticism (which is obviously important) and Dem-bashing (ditto) to consider this question: Is the author of the below tweet fit to be president, in mind and character? This is, in the end, unduckable.

I'm sure I go overboard on Lincoln -- am guilty of some idolatry. But I consider the Fox News thing, with Trump, a bit of a profanation. I wouldn't like it if a president I loved -- Reagan, say -- appropriated that setting. It makes me sick, frankly.
I couldn't stand those drum-beating bullies who occupied the Wisconsin capitol in 2011, and who followed lawmakers to their homes, scaring the hell out of their children and dogs. I can't stand bullies of any political stripe. Also, I find the "Occupy" spirit nasty and illiberal.
I wonder if Trump knows anything about the history of this phrase, "the enemy of the people." Many human beings, in the Soviet Union and elsewhere, have been executed as "enemies of the people." If our president knew any of this -- would he desist?

I have very strong views about policy and political philosophy. Very strong. But perhaps even more strongly, I think we should have leaders -- left, right, or center -- who are not liars. I'm not talking about people who fudge or fib a bit. I'm talking about bald-faced liars.
One downside of the Trump era that isn't explicitly his fault is that conservative activism/punditry has gotten too centered around "owning the libs" at the expense of trying to convince people that can be reached that we're right.
Four years ago, that would have been a meaningful sentence. Now, it puts me in the same category with the Sean Hannitys of America. “Conservative” tells you nothing about a person’s beliefs any more. Same problem with “liberal.”
I’ve been thinking about Haldeman, Ehrlichman, Colson, Magruder, and that crowd. It seems to me they were a better class of people than the grifty kooks onstage now.
American conservatism used to be very different — a world away — from European rightism. Now they are converging. Can this convergence be stopped? It looks like no. Here in America, pre-Trump conservatives will have to cling to one another, as to guns and religion. Stay strong!
