I think the Colts wanted Marvin Harrison Jr. or Rome Odunze, based on talking to sources close to these players. Only Odunze felt realistic — only if they could get above the Bears at 9. The Falcons at 8 didn’t want to slide in the QB derby. The Titans at 7 weren’t helping out.
Laiatu Latu had easily the best tape of any defensive player in the entire draft class. He’s as advanced of a pass rusher as you’ll find coming out of college. As long as his health holds up, that’s an absolute steal for the Colts.

From what I've been told, the Niners have been on the phones all night -- up until and through their pick at 31 -- exploring trades for both Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel. Considering the Ricky Pearsall pick, I'd imagine they're not done exploring those trades.
Latu is the only player I’ve ever worked with that I can comfortably say he will line up next year & produce double digit sacks with ease. I’ve worked with 7 1st round Edges in the past draft.

Ignoring the injury question, Laiatu Latu is the best and most NFL-ready defensive prospect in this class. And it’s not close. Nice to see him actually end up as the top defender off the board.
New Colts DE Laiatu Latu, new Vikings DE Dallas Turner and new Steelers OL Troy Fautanu each had medical flags coming into the draft. Each likely would've gone a little higher without those.
Laiatu Latu had acceptable medicals from most teams I spoke to. No question he's the top pass rusher in this year's draft when you don't consider the neck concerns. Colts GM Chris Ballard always leans on guys with the traits.
Latu was only third among edge rushers in SackSEER, plus the neck issues, I'm surprised he's the first defensive player.

Laiatu Latu at UCLA pro day 3-cone: 7.09 Short shuttle: 4.34 Really strong times for a 267-pound edge rusher.
I am once again asking for the Colts to adjust their EDGE athletic thresholds so they choose Latu

Compared to the aforementioned Werner. Latu is a much better athlete and is more polished coming out
Jeremy has always had the best lines to summarize Colts draft picks. I'll always remember "He's like a hot girl, but that isn't very bright" about a certain OT drafted in 2016...lol
My pre-draft thoughts on #Colts new EDGE Laiatu Latu: “I'm fine with swinging for the fences. Best EDGE in the draft, if he doesn't die.” Sounds like the medicals are good, so I think this is a phenomenal pick. Indy got their top defensive player @ 15.
