Genuine question: WHY is ANYONE against universal healthcare? Like, what arguments do they try to use against it? Cause I can't comprehend why any reasonable person would be against it.
@TrashPandaGirl One of the less-cited reasons is it would lead to massive layoffs in corporate HR departments. Negotiating and administering employee healthcare plans is a substantial part of the work they do.
@stephen_czn @TrashPandaGirl Those are unnecessary jobs raising the cost of healthcare. Get rid of them.
@stephen_czn @TrashPandaGirl Oh well. Not a reason to keep the current system.
@stephen_czn @TrashPandaGirl Yeah but couldn't those people transition to facilitating universal healthcare?
@stephen_czn @TrashPandaGirl Good. The lives (i.e deaths) and well being of millions is not worth keeping a couple thousand people employed. I would make that trade in a heartbeat because otherwise it could be someone's last.
@stephen_czn @TrashPandaGirl Actually, there’s so much in HR being ignored in order to focus on Healthcare plans. Maybe they could actually do those things. Maybe like starting with Employee Morale, Disability support…
@stephen_czn @TrashPandaGirl Almost everyone I know who works in HR complains about how much time they waste administering plans, fielding issues, & comparing the 5billion plans the insurance companies keep reworking to stack the deck in their favor
@stephen_czn @TrashPandaGirl It wouldn't. HR people have plenty of other things they could focus on if they got out of the business of administering health care plans. Many HR people are generalists and would LOVE to get healthcare management off their plates.
@stephen_czn @TrashPandaGirl and what a waste of time it is. they'd all be better off doing something constructive for society
@stephen_czn @TrashPandaGirl Small businesses without big HR departments would love to lose this burden which has nothing to do with their core business functions.
@stephen_czn @TrashPandaGirl Lol unionize the HR department
