UNC's 2020 recruiting haul still has a COVID year available, but Roy Williams nailed his last big signing class. That group boasts five power conference starters, two conference POYs, three All-Americans and two first-round NBA draft picks.
Tonight in Los Angeles: Caleb Love: 0-9 from 3, 5-18 from field RJ Davis: 0-9 from 3, 4-20 from field It’s the first time any 2 players have shot 0-9 or worse from 3 on the same day in NCAA Tournament history.
Tough loss and not the way #UNC wanted its season to end, but what a fun season for Hubert Davis and his Tar Heels. A lot of question marks about Hubert entering the season (and for good reason after last year), but he calmed a lot of fears and answered his critics in ‘23-24.
Paxton Wojcik played as many minutes (9) in the second half as Eliot Cadeau (5) and Seth Trimble (4). That’s a head-scratcher. Curious to hear Hubert’s answer to that question.
UNC shot 25.0% in the second half. That’s it. Have to score the ball against a team like Alabama that struggles to defend effectively.
A couple of incredibly poor offensive sets late for UNC. Bad shot by Withers and hero ball by RJ.
Lot of focus on UNC’s offensive woes this half, but the Heels have played much better defensively. Sears has not been as effective this half.
Missed bunnies by RJ and Cadeau offset by triples from Trimble and Cadeau. Heels need to lock in defensively. Sears completely dominating this game thus far.

Hard to say enough about UNC’s bench production with Cadeau and Ryan struggling a bit today. Trimble, Withers and Washington have all been positives off the bench.

@GSBarnes23 My big problem was Hubert basically benching Cadeau in the 2nd half. We went defensive and played reactionary ehen a great passer could carve up that D. Offense was clunky and resulted in hero ball - which we accused Caleb for ruining last year’s season. That aint Carolina ball
'No Country for Old Men' (2007) is a perfect film. As perfect as a film can be, at least. Despite a modest budget, tight 2hr runtime, and no score it feels heavy, expansive, and complete. I've read more about NCFOM than any other film, here are some things I found interesting:

@GSBarnes23 Cadeau was always the key. He controlled the game from the point. During the season when he got into foul trouble you saw a drop off in the teams performance. Mind boggling decision and one of the reasons we are out of the tourney. Bracket opened up & we missed an opportunity
@GSBarnes23 UNC has never been as efficient with RJ running the point. Offense is better with him off the ball. A little head scratching that he ran point almost the entire second half in such high tempo/ high possession game. Oh well, hindsight is 20/20.

I have now seen Clemson basketball win in Chapel Hill *and* make an Elite Eight in the last four years -- two things that have never happened in my entire life -- and if you'd asked me five years ago which one was more improbable I'm not sure which one I would have picked
(The "Fire Hubert" folks will come out in full force in response to this L, but this game shouldn't detract from the improvements that he made in his third year as head coach... but it certainly shows that he still has room to grow and has areas that he must continue to work on.)
Hubert Davis was excellent in his game planning, strategies, and adjustments against Florida State and Pittsburgh. Then he laid an egg vs NC State. Hubert Davis was excellent against Michigan State. And then we had tonight. I'll have more thoughts later...
Love the kid, but that was an all time bad sequence for Withers. Might cost #UNC this game.

It’s a hit piece but she hasn’t read it. It’s a hatchet job the writer spent two years on. She was given no time to respond to questions but the writer requested an interview numerous times over two years which she declined. THIS is why people don’t trust journalism anymore.
