My clients have different investment strategies. Every time I look and compare the ones with Real Estate as their investment vs the ones who invested in stock- the RE one’s are always better off in terms of retirement & peace of mind. Other tax pros- do you see the same thing?

I was the chair of the CPA committee at the firm I am leaving from. The prev 5 yrs, the firm produced 1 CPA. In 8 months time, I was able to produce 3 and get 4 others half way there alongside helping one person start the ea exam. I love helping others succeed!!!
Ive started modeling my firm by @LoganGrafTax’s model. Only accepting business clients if I or a list of approved bookkeepers do the acct work. I’m also doing other stuff like implementing minimums and charging high fixed fees. The rest of 2024 is going to be great!

Just read a quote that said “if something took me 30 mins, it’s because I spent 10 yrs learning how to do it in 30 mins. I charge for the yrs, not mins”. I feel like most CPA’s/EA’s should go by that motto. Very well put & said. It’s why I also respect every CPA/EA/ tax pro.

Question- if a person doesn’t register for an EIN, is solely cash based & doesn’t receive any 1099’s… How does the Fed or state gov’t know they have taxable income? Like there are SO many cash based businesses in NYC that just under report or don’t report income at all.
So I learned a lot my first tax year. I think my biggest lesson is to quote fixed over hourly but use hourly as a measurement to quote the fixed fee.
Every now and then, I get to do a local (Kansas City) jurisdiction return and y’all… they don’t round to whole numbers. It’s so weird… why can’t they just follow the norm 😂

@GabrielKohenCPA Almost never. Most people make insignificant money in real estate. Some make a ton. Most middle class people who save to their 401(k) will have more money and liquidity and some hope for a comfortable retirement.
Retirement is only going to get harder. As a rule of thumb, you should have 1x your salary saved for retirement at 30. Let time and compounding do the heavy lifting.
