No Matt. Reform does not give people the confidence that they will follow-through with their promises, nor do they have the people of suitable calibre to do what needs to be done. That is why an increasing number of people are supporting Restore rather than Reform and at some point this trend will reverse the current numbers. If anyone is serious about making the changes needed they should switch their vote from Reform to Restore, you included, and move away from Farage’s ego project to a party that will really achieve what needs to be done. It is Reform that is the distraction now and will increasingly be so.

Possibly, those things could be seen as improvements over some of what was before, but in what way are they undone by the far-right as our friend pronounces? If anything recent events show that it is the left that are the first to shatter these and resort to violence to get their own way or take revenge on those who disagree with them. If the things that you list are so easily trampled down can they really be regarded as true progress?

Thank you for that, I appreciate the information and it has made me think more about this. Of course there are some lefty scientists, my point was, albeit with insufficient clarity, that I believe technological progress has been the only progress humans have made. It was a supplementary point that this has been brought about primarily by right-leaning people, and is my personal view. I wonder how long the equivalent list would be of such people? Your comment on the level of leftism in academia is certainly true, and not at all a positive thing, as we can see by the state of tertiary education today, however academia is only partly responsible for technological progress, and I venture to suggest that the vast majority of progress is made outside the confines of academia. But thanks for your interesting reply.
