If you don't want "run" tab to open every time app launch, uncheck this "Activate tool window" #AndroidDevs #AndroidDev #Kotlin
Want to open "Logcat" tab, every time app launch, check "Show logcat automatically" inside Run Configuration #AndroidDev #AndroidDevs
"Consumers and producers of flows don’t need to know how each other is implemented" <-> "Wholesalers and Retailers don't need to know how each person bringing/Selling the goods" #AndroidDev #Kotlin medium.com/androiddevelop…
Role of "TheardPool" CoroutineScheduler is responsible for scheduling which work will run on which thread from which set of the thread pools, and finally, the Runnable block of code executes using .run function #AndroiddDev #Kotlin (3/n)
What does "Suspend function" mean? Telling a loc to execute and suspend at some point makes the thread free to be used by another loc, and use whichever available thread when need to resume. #AndroiddDev #Kotlin (2/n)
What does "Coroutines are lightweight" mean? 10 Coroutines != 10 Threads 10 Java Thread == 10 new Threads 👇 #AndroiddDev #Kotlin (1/n)
In Android - Use StateFlow when need default value always, for example - network response, prevent repetitive API calls - Use SharedFlow when need to emit similar values, for example - button click events #AndroidDev #Kotlin
- keeps a specific number of values known - consist of buffer strategy what to do when buffer value overflows StateFlow and SharedFlow - all methods are thread-safe, internally using lock #AndroidDev #Kotlin
StateFlow <-> SharedFlow ==> Android Hierarchy of Flow interface: Flow -> SharedFlow -> StateFlow StateFlow - consist of value property - Emit only if the last known value != current value, follow a principle "value emissions using equality" #AndroidDev #Kotlin
RunCatching - Wrapper around try-catch - Returns encapsulated result with Result<T> format - Standard contracts work like "Finally" - .fold() to get the encapsulated result - .getOrNull{ return null if fail } - .getOrThrow() - .getOrElse{ default value } #AndroidDev #Kotlin
Picking different set of tools and developing something is not what makes us grow, But, look for problems around, what developers are facing, what library makers are facing, makes us grow. - lines from my friend More stackoverflow, more github issues #AndroidDev #kotlin
- enum uses tableswitch underhood so faster - sealed uses instanceof underhood so slower - proguard convert enum to int so, type-safe at compile time - enum, no garbage collection, no object creation - sealed class gets garbage collected #AndroidDev #kotlin (5/n)
... vs Enum - can have different properties for each subtype - can have different functions for each - enum extend interfaces - can extend other classes and interfaces - can have multiple instances #AndroidDev #kotlin (4/n)
Sealed Class and Sealed Interface - static abstract class and public interface - multiple inheritances for an interface, single parent for class - interface has no constructors - exhaustive when block - interface restrict implementation to library only #AndroidDev #kotlin (3/n)
Interface - cannot store state - all abstract fun/variable must be overridden - multiple inheritance is allowed #AndroidDev #kotlin (2/n)
This thread is all about sealed classes/interfaces/abstract and ... vs enum #AndroidDev #kotlin (1/n)
Abstract Class - cannot be instantiated - can extend another abstract class - all abstract fun/variable must be overridden #AndroidDev #kotlin (2/n)
SuspendCoroutine SuspendCancellableCoroutine - These will make Handling coroutine cancellations easy with functions like .resume / .resumeWithException #androidDev #kotlin #coroutines (5/n)
Coroutines can be easily used while working with WorkManager - Updating database in the background even after app reboot #AndroidDev #Kotlin (4/n)
This thread is focused on some scenarios around Coroutines: CoroutineScope - Interface CoroutineBuilder - Extension fun of CoroutineScope CoroutineContext - Interface CoroutineDispatcher - Abstract class #AndroidDev #kotlin (1/n)
