@dullneat @johndmarriott @CollegeofPolice Surely your dissertation links in with your operational policing role, where I would hope you are gaining a wealth of practical policing knowledge. Who it is delivered by ie your own Force or the HE provider is irrelevant. My understanding is together, they deliver the product 🤷♂️
@BravoWhiskey08 @dullneat Surely all this ‘experience’ should provide plenty of evidence for your module requirements / EPA process. If a Lecturer or assessor does suggest a need to ‘make something up’, might I suggest that either they or the process is trying to tell you something 🤔

@dullneat @AndyBel79140486 At least you will have your permanent appointment professionalised no matter what value you see in the degree. Unlike IPLDP who have little to show for their efforts. You also won’t be saddled with 30k of debt unlike pre-join candidates some of whom also feel duped!!
@dullneat @thebladefalcon I would have thought that achieving the policing degree and meeting the competencies is a contractual requirement and pre-requisite to permanent appointment. Where’s the ambiguity?
@thebladefalcon @dullneat I wasn’t aware the degree route had been ‘binned off’. I thought the HS had simply told Forces to also consider offering a non-degree route to new starters 🤷♂️
@BluelightInfo I’m unsure of the point of this? It’s a direct contradiction of the ‘Recruitment is Broken’ Forces are desperate narrative 🤷♂️
@Random_met_cop Bottle that feeling, keep it close to hand, and drink from it at the low times. Levelled things out for me in a 31 yr police career. It’s why we do what we do! Stay safe and keep making that difference

@dullneat @BluelightInfo I have views on both routes and I’m not presenting an argument in support of either. I just don’t see the huge advantage. I suspect there is more behind the phrase ‘operational reasons’!!
@dullneat @BluelightInfo I concur with your observations re Yr3 but I don’t see the huge ‘operational’ advantage in the role of an officer who is substantive in their rank and those who perform the same job whilst waiting to ‘graduate’.
@dullneat @BluelightInfo Also, I’m not sure which force you’re referring to who do not count ‘probationary’ Constables as a resource, but I know at least one force whose students have ‘IPS’ after 11 months service and are very much counted as an essential resource - singley crewed!!
@dullneat @BluelightInfo Thanks for your reply. However, I still don’t see a substantial advantage. 25 weeks of IPLDP is still 50% ‘off the job’ training in yr 1! In yr 2, 12 weeks ‘OTJT’ is not hugely different to the phase 4 and other additional elements of IPLDP.
