There are things that need to be improved in policing, for sure. But, at scene in 12 minutes and detained in 22, by unarmed officers who have been violently attacked… I could never do that. These people are incredible

I have never thought that we should be an armed police service, but my view is really starting to change, 21st Century policing is changing all the time and we need to catch up, should we ALL be routinely armed? Needs a real debate now ..
Great update. Delivered with sincerity and compassion, and communicating clearly with the press. Wishing a full and swift recovery to those involved, and hoping that the medals for the officers involved are already in the post.

This morning I am thinking about the young boy who lost his life yesterday & his family, because long after the news and SM move on, their grief will still be there. Their lives changed forever yesterday, so today I am keeping them in my thoughts and prayers.

Watching this literally takes my breath away. The size of that sword and the bravery of the officers selflessly rushing towards very obvious danger ….. we often say that’s what police do but here it is laid bare for us all to see. Absolute heroes 💙
