@HannahQuirk1 @Protect_ServeUK Taser is a great tool, but it has limitations - around 50% success on first discharge. It was effective here but if it hadn’t been, that brave officer would have been left with a baton and spray. When facing an edged weapon taser should be used alongside a conventional firearm.

@Protect_ServeUK The Commissioner now needs to ask "am I sending my people out equipped to deal with all foreseeable risks?" The answer in London is now "probably not". It's an H&S issue he will be burnt on the arse with before long.
@Protect_ServeUK Programme on BBC1 mornings a few weeks ago. Featured a story about two police officers called to attend a bus in Leeds - man wielding a knife and threatening passengers. Both discharged their tasers. Both tasers failed.

@Protect_ServeUK I spent from 1992 to 2009 as an authorised firearms officer and the Gimp who decided cops should carry 4 different weapons needs taking out and given an ottoman slap. Nobody who has ever Been involved in a life or death situation has time to fuck about what is the right choice xx
@Protect_ServeUK Let’s give a mention of the blond, young female officer who ran in and took the guy down with her taser. Then, and only then, the guys followed. As the daughter of an old school police officer, he would have been first in, equality or no equality.
