@TokenEconomist7 Agree. My response to anyone that says we should be focusing on more immediate problems is: Those too. We have the capacity to focus on both.

They’re not protesting wealth inequality in the USA or another country. They’re protesting, and some violently, one of the most generous welfare states in the world. This suggests that no amount of state benefits will ever be enough. Let’s stop treating people as victims. Let’s expect more of people to improve their own lives unless they are truly the most vulnerable and needing help.

@JulienHoez What if anyone living in the household or providing other assistance to a rioter caught for doing something destructive/violent loses any welfare benefits they might receive? Money is fungible, and those benefits are supporting the rioter.

No KPI is perfect. But if there are fewer poor people in Europe, it's because the government is subsidizing them, and that's quite simply unsustainable. Unfortunately, Europe is not innovating. Unfortunately, Europeans are not having enough kids. These two things together, if unchanged, mean Europe will continue to fall behind. It's sad, as I lived in Europe for many years, but also, more importantly, the world needs a strong, vibrant, growing, sustainable Europe.

@rowlsmanthorpe @etnshow Love UK after living and working there for many years. This view is 💯 accurate. Key question is: Is this view to pessimism OR frankly a laziness/lack of desire?

@francediplo_EN @jnbarrot @FranceJerusalem You either (a) believed the Palestinian leadership that they would have elections, or (b) knew they didn't but recognized their "State" anyways; either way: "Incompétent!"

@a16z This is certainly a threat to the call center (BPO) worker, but not necessarily the BPO industry. The tractor was a threat to farm field workers, but not end of the farming industry; in fact, the ones that survived, thrived.

Thx for sharing. The point about kids is true and cannot be said enough. I moved here and had two kids relatively quickly. We decided to have kids without much thinking about it. And society here is built for them. Many friends back in the US think about this part of life entirely differently and are confronted with the day-to-day realities of the societies in which they live, which are far less accommodating to having a family.

@IamBrandonHill Interesting. Can you say more about why the inventory is not "visible"? I would think it becomes digitally visible when it is scanned in; not much different from an ecommerce fulfilment center I used to manage...

Good analysis. I would also draw people's attention to how capital does not flow in/out in a vacuum. It also reflects policy, and is often steered by it. Europe's high energy costs and weak investment environment must be addressed through policy that will actually attract capital, and also not commit geopolitical blunders. On the former, it is more favorable tax policy and labor laws, and on the latter it is not pivoting to Russia's natural gas while shifting away from Nuclear. In summary, the capital will follow good policy.

The end of the EU is coming. It’s unfortunate because it was the best chance for Europe to be an international force. But it’s main players - France, Germany, Spain - are in a downward spiral. And it starts with a cultural one - not wanting to compete or succeed, and that shows in their economy.

There are huge risks with this AI-led innovation/disruption cycle. My only point is setting guard-rails that innovation should only be about helping people be more productive is not realistic. Market interventions ultimately fail. If the West doesn't enable this innovation, China will. We must be faster in how we support people through this challenge.

@FrogusGladzsid @60Minutes There are surely differences, but we must also acknowledge similarities. Tractors didn't perform millions of tasks but they are the centerpiece in switching entire societies from agrarian and industrial. So in this instances, the innovation of tractors is pretty close.

@rd_lobo @60Minutes It seemed that way too before. What I will acknowledge is different this time is the pace. And that difference doesn’t require different guard-rails but effective policies and market mechanisms to enable a shift for as many people as possible as quickly as possible.

@HarryStebbings Agree. I foresee instances where the GTM and CX of a company will merge into one, at least in the tech infrastructure and hybrid workforce working alongside it.

@gregisenberg Ran a 3D printing Co. While breakthroughs are coming , it will mainly be for playful, one-off parts. The real challenge to manufacturing is producing high value parts at volume, which are usually not limited by design itself but existing within a complex supply chain.
