Spam IP list has been updated. Current List: 83,593 IPs Filtered for SE crawlers (including FB/Pinterest/etc). Almost all IPs are "Data Center/Web Hosting" type on AbuseIPDB. I also filter out residential IPs even if spam bc too risky to block them. ocscripts.com/product/spam-i…

Google reminded us last night of the new Search Spam policies releasing on May 5th, specifically targeting "reputation abuse." However, publishers were warned about this back in 2019, and Google did suggest they were taking action. I was working heavily in the coupon/voucher code…

@Hobo_Web One thing to knock 'em down... quite another to put your foot on their throat. I understand the why... I think it's also that if they go AI most of this content doesn't add any value to their LLM. What they say they want does add value.
@Hobo_Web I've never understood putting the effort in to build a site and then depending on a 3rd party to monetize. IMO, you should already have a plan to monetize before you build. CTA etc. have to be built into the process. Just my opinion and likely not well received!
@Hobo_Web In some niches it is clear Google has reason to remove competition cuz Google have or are building SERP features for the niche. Travel being pummeled the way it has seems too much of a co-incidence... given recent announcements
@Hobo_Web Agreed nothing is a bigger tell a site is creating pages for Search than having ads platered all over the page.

@Hobo_Web It seems the three-second standard has remained constant over the years. I first learned about it 20 years ago when bandwidth limitations were the main concern; now, it's due to the increasing heaviness of web pages.
Almost every single site within the top 100 biggest % losers of this core update is a publisher site that makes money off ads. (No, the same is not true of the winners) I'll be sharing this data in my upcoming article(s) but this is the first major trend that stood out to me.

Spam IP list has been updated. Current List: 83,593 IPs Filtered for SE crawlers (including FB/Pinterest/etc). Almost all IPs are "Data Center/Web Hosting" type on AbuseIPDB. I also filter out residential IPs even if spam bc too risky to block them. ocscripts.com/product/spam-i…

They always run them out in pairs, with Core preceeding the more publicized 'named' update, by weeks, then days, last combo dropped same day. Almost every HCU hit site I've looked at got a traffic bump from the Core update that preceded it. Why would that be? This predates HCU…

@Hobo_Web Because I came in from Web/UX, I try to share the responsibility ... ... but in the majority of cases - it's not really "SEO Work", it is down to designer/developer to make changes.
