So much of our ableist society is based on the harmful belief that disabled people are inferior, unworthy and expendable. Ableism is devaluing and dehumanizing. Disabled people are an essential part of humanity. Disabled people are worthy.

I got asked if I could do a fibromyalgia study. They are only offering a 100$ gift card at the end of the study. And they wonder why they can't find people. It's for about 4 weeks and 5 days a week. It's about 3 hr by transit or 1hr by car to get there and back.

@adamfare1996 Labeling disabled people as “work shy” is deeply ignorant and dismissive of the immense challenges we face daily. Many push through unbearable pain just to survive. It’s not laziness; it’s a fight for dignity and survival. Such judgments only perpetuate harmful stereotypes.

@adamfare1996 We work as our own physical therapists, dieticians, OTs, counsellors, pharmacist and cheerleading team. All unpaid. Many of us even do other unpaid work and personal development for shîts and giggles.

There are autistic people who like "childish" things. Bright, pastel colors, stim boards, toys, the word "neurospicy". We shouldn't be infantilized, but we shouldn't act like it's bad if you ARE like this. Some of us are.

"Autistic people lack empathy"... No, actually many of us are hyper-empathetic. Others may not seem like they are but internalise it. And some may feel it but not know how to show or identify it.

Calling disabled people “work shy” is such an insulting thing to say tbh. I worked for years in pain, constantly feeling like death, unable to have any sort of life. I carried on though it felt like I had a constant stomach bug (only one of my symptoms). “Work shy”… fuck off.

I'm sick to death seeing people refer to disabled people as genuinely disabled. What does that even mean? That you have a preconceived image of what disabled people look like based upon a stereotype rooted in ableism? Disabled means disabled, that's it.
