Great opening half hour for Ajax, just need a little more composure at the final bit. So much technical ability and Madrid can't match their intensity - have barely got out their half. Only slight risk for Ajax has been the counter given the numbers committed on the counter.

I understand the frustration after a loss, especially as it's a trend in big games (esp away), but we have the 6th best squad in the league and that's what they look like. I don't agree with every decision Emery's making but I also don't expect miracles year 1.

Emery will inevitable get blamed when the results turn, I'd be very surprised if they don't, but I'm not sure what he can do about it. The defence is the foundation of the team and it's as weak as it's been in a long time. Needing to score 2-5 to win games won't work forever.

Not a great result yesterday but that is quite a rise for Untied since Solskjaer took over. Chelsea's awful result somewhat opens the door for a 4th place battle. Wolves solid 7th. Huge game week for Newcastle.

If Jardim was sacked because they doubted his ability then rehiring him is baffling. If he was sacked because the squad weren't backing him then rehiring him is also baffling. Yet for whatever reason I'm fully behind their decision to rehire him.

Juventus the biggest point overachievers so far (Parma just behind) and could hit 100 pts with how consistently they've grown. 4th place up for grabs. Bottom two look done.

Villarreal now deep in the relegation battle (admittedly there's more than 4 that could drop but the graph gets ugly). None of the top 3 have met expectations yet but Barca have held top spot from day 1. Alaves the biggest overachievers.

For what it's worth I've always liked KP Boateng. At times he's been tagged as flamboyant/lazy, despite his game usually being efficient and clever. In terms of ability and ball progression/use of space, he's very good. Barca good? Probably not, but a solid squad addition.

Interesting hearing Mourinho's interpretation (and analogy) of what caused his problems at United, especially as their structure does seem a mess. That said, his bigger problem was his attitude - him still not acknowledging that is a major issue for his future jobs.

Lacazette might be giving us the best all round striker season we've had since Van Persie's last year. He's always finished, but now he's trapping every pass, linking difficult moves and pressing as much as any attacker in the league. Don't get why he's spent so much time as sub.

Good move all round. Niasse always seems to play well then get dropped - don't see that being the case at Cardiff. Unlikely to score many in a Warnock relegation battling side but his all round game will definitely help them.
