4000+ Ontarians die annually due to alcohol and 1/3 of road fatalities are due to intoxication. But we don't close bars (a.k.a. safe alcohol consumption sites). Conservatives expand the ravages of alcohol, but while 10 die/day of drug use - we eliminate their safe use sites.

Looking at this list and thinking about the chicken/egg misconception about these sites: there locations were chosen based on pre-existing concentrations of services and supports (and therefore populations)—closing them will not have the impact conservative supporters think.

From 2017 onwards. Supervised consumptions services have reversed over 50,000 overdoses. They have made 100’s of thousands of referrals and connected people to health care, SOS, Hepc treatment, wound care, substance use supports. Without them thousands more people would be dead

Dirty blanket, half eaten sandwich, outside ER. Imagine this was your son or daughter's evening after seeking shelter from the cold in ER. In such a rich city, Toronto can't spare some warm shelter for its most vulnerable. Mayor Tory, step aside. @JohnTory
