Stop frying your brain with endless short form content. Read long, complicated, books. Especially novels. Cultivate the ability to think deeply. To focus for long periods. Stare into space and enjoy boredom. Do tasks without any media playing in the background. Resist the urge to reach for your phone every time you feel uncomfortable. Get used to being with uncomfortable emotions instead. Wonder and think about the questions you have instead of asking AI. Become deeply present with everyone around you. Your ability to focus, pay attention, to think deeply, is one of your most valuable assets. Reclaim the immense beauty of experiencing your life directly instead of living it through a screen.

I know nobody will read this... One of the biggest problems people have with UI design is coming up with ideas. you sit in front of a blank Figma canvas, trying to figure out the perfect layout, colors, typography, and composition. And when nothing comes, they assume they lack creativity. But I think the real problem is that we've convinced ourselves that our ideas need to be original. They don't. There is nothing new under the sun. The secret is learning to consume ideas and repurpose them to solve different problems. Think about it. Your brain cannot magically produce ideas from information it has never encountered. Even AI works with patterns learned from existing data. It doesn't create in a vacuum. Neither do you. The things you see, read, experience, and pay attention to become the raw materials for your creativity. And the beautiful thing is that your inspiration doesn't have to come from UI design. It could come from architecture, movies, book covers, photography, illustrations, animations, or even the shapes of clouds. Literally anything. You could see an interesting color combination in a movie and apply it to a dashboard. You could notice how a magazine uses typography to establish hierarchy and bring that thinking into your landing page. You could observe the composition of a painting and use it to approach a completely different design problem. That's the beauty of creativity. You take what exists, find interesting connections, and reinterpret it for something new. But there's a problem. Most of us move through life without really paying attention. We scroll past beautiful designs without studying them. We walk past interesting buildings without noticing their proportions. We consume content all day but rarely stop to ask ourselves what makes something visually appealing. Our eyes are open, but our observation is switched off. And here's something worth thinking about: If you struggle with paying attention to detail in your interfaces, are you paying attention to detail in the things around you? How do you expect to develop an eye for typography if you never study typography? How do you expect to understand visual balance if you never observe how elements are arranged in designs you admire? How do you expect to get better at color if you never study how colors work together? You cannot develop your visual taste in isolation from the things you expose yourself to. So, if you want to get better at UI design, start building an idea bank. Study interfaces you admire. Pay attention to typography, spacing, composition, color, contrast, and hierarchy. Look beyond digital products. Study architecture, photography, films, illustrations, editorial design, and the world around you. But don't just look. Observe. Ask yourself: - What makes this composition work? - Why do these colors feel good together? - What makes this typography interesting? - What can I learn from this and apply to a different problem? Over time, you'll begin to recognize patterns, make associations, and connect ideas in ways you couldn't before. And when you eventually open Figma, you'll have more material to work with. If you struggle with color, study color. If you struggle with typography, study typography. If you struggle with layouts, study composition. If you struggle with visual details, train yourself to notice details. And maybe spend less time consuming things that add nothing to your creative thinking and more time feeding your mind with things worth learning from. Because getting better at UI design isn't just about spending more time inside Figma. It's also about what you do with your mind when you're outside it. Build your idea bank. Stay curious. Pay attention. Stop waiting for originality to strike before you allow yourself to create.

If anyone wants to know how good Caicedo is, just watch Chelsea with and without him. The difference this man makes to this Chelsea team can’t even be put into words. I’m so happy he is back

@Badi_design Object oriented design & content modeling brings so much clarity before opening Figma.

Information - Decision - Action

“And that skeptical mindset is more valuable than any specific methodology.”

Mindset is everything.

Motivations won’t change your life but bad habit will. When you change your habits, everything shifts.

Sometimes God pulls you away from the noise, so you’ll stop mistaking other people’s opinions for his direction.

Execution is cheap, judgement is not.

I'm going to share with you the secret to designing anything great. It's surprisingly simple, and works whether you're designing an interface, a house, or the menu for your friend's new cafe. First you create something. It's ok if it's bad. You're just wanting to quickly bring it to life. Then, ask yourself "What can be improved about this?" Then go and improve those things. This is the design loop. Create. Critique. Repeat. You want to run this loop as much as you can. If you do this until you can find nothing left to improve, you've probably made something pretty good. Then you can ask other people, and probably find ways to make it even better. The good news is that this is incredibly simple to remember and works for anything. The bad news is it can be challenging to hold yourself to it, and run the loop as much as you should in any given situation. But that's the opportunity. So go make great things!

designers, a little tip for you Login = noun (title) Log in = verb (button) you are welcome!

Someone shared a screenshot of the top bar on the Medium article interface and asked what was wrong with it. I noticed 9 things. 1) The elements should ideally be ordered by visual weight. 2) The space between "Sign in" and the avatar placeholder is too large.

This applies strikingly to a designer too, and the only way to do this seamlessly is to constantly expose yourself to designs that are objectively better than yours.
