A new book alleges that Dutch intelligence hacked Jared Kushner's phone and watched him access a Dubai bank account holding hundreds of millions of dollars that came from a bank in Azerbaijan. The claim comes from an excerpt of Princes and Thieves, a book by investigative journalist Matthew Cole about Kushner and UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed. Cole says a source he considered reliable told him in spring 2020 that Kushner appeared to transfer large sums from the account to other people, including a warlord, a mercenary and a former hit man. The excerpt's headline says the transfers totaled more than $700 million and that the bank accounts linked Trump's son-in-law and former senior adviser to Israel, the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Lana Nusseibeh, the UAE's minister of state and envoy to the UN, announced her candidacy for Secretary-General on Wednesday. For three years she has been a public face of Abu Dhabi's denials, even as UN experts themselves documented Emirati weapons and money flowing to the RSF while it carried out massacres and mass rape across Darfur. Those who have worked on Sudan were scathing: 
🔸 Cameron Hudson, a former CIA Africa analyst and White House National Security Council director for African affairs: "It isn't just that UAE has been supporting the RSF, it's that Lana has been the UAE's chief diplomat denying the fact and defending the regime." 🔸 Jeremy Konyndyk, president of Refugees International, said Nusseibeh "must not be SG if she cannot first admit and condemn the UAE's complicity." He said he interviewed survivors of RSF massacres and systematic sexual violence in Sudan last week, including the mother of a 12-year-old girl who was shot in front of her. "Most if not all of these horrific violations were directly enabled by the UAE's support," he said, adding that the UN has documented it for three years. 
🔸 Mohanad Elbalal, co-founder of Khartoum Aid Kitchen, said she "used her position as UAE Ambassador to the UN to cover up and gaslight" on the UAE's role, calling her candidacy "a direct insult to Sudanese." Her bid has been cheered by figures who backed three years of Israel's genocide in Gaza while staying silent or covering for the UAE's integral role in the genocide in Sudan. Brett McGurk, former President Joe Biden's Middle East coordinator, called her "an inspired choice for this impossible job." Nickolay Mladenov, the high representative for Gaza on U.S. President Donald Trump's Board of Peace, has also praised her.

🚨 EXCLUSIVE: UN abandons Rafah crossing as Israel arrests Palestinians returning to Gaza The UN informed Palestinian officials that it will stop receiving Palestinians returning from Egypt and coordinating their entry into Gaza starting in mid-November, citing the dangers facing returnees and repeated Israeli arrests, a senior Palestinian source involved in negotiations told Drop Site News. The decision follows Israel’s arrest of a Palestinian cancer patient and her daughter on Tuesday, the same day Rafah reopened after a roughly 10-day suspension triggered by the detention of another returnee. “The United Nations will ask the parties concerned to provide an alternative entity to assume this responsibility; however, its withdrawal will proceed regardless of whether an alternative is secured,” the source told Drop Site. Finding a replacement will be difficult, the source said, as transporting returnees requires coordination with Israel and passage through dangerous areas within the Yellow and Red Line zones. The Red Cross may be the only alternative, but its Gaza office previously declined, the source said saying the task fell outside its mandate. Nearly all Palestinians who leave Gaza through the Rafah crossing are medical evacuees and their companions through a process that is facilitated by the UN. While the UN will continue to facilitate medical evacuations, its decision to stop receiving Palestinians entering Gaza could affect the entire operation of the crossing, the source said, as Egypt might not agree to accept medical evacuees leaving Gaza unless they are allowed to return. Under a negotiated agreement, the number of Palestinians allowed to return into Gaza must equal the number allowed to leave. “Maybe the Egyptians will say if no one is allowed to return, we will also not be part of, of receiving one from Gaza, which means at the end that the whole process is blocked,” the source said.
