"Bruce Wayne" is NOT a mask and Batman is not his "real"self. The public Bruce may be a mask, but the Batman is also a literal mask. If you want to see who the real Bruce Wayne is look at how he interacts with the people who care about him (not just JLA superhero acquaintances).

The Gareth Hunt Nescafé outtakes are a mood
In totality DC heroes>>>>Marvel heroes. Especially iconic heroes. Especially female heroes. Which makes Marvel's ability to trounce DC in live-action especially bad.

I remember back in the day in screenwriting class we were told there were only several minutes in a film, don't waste them - begin on action, not exposition.

Not just a fantastic cover. Gotham Knights #32; Devin Grayson's "24/7": One of the best single-issue Batman stories ever as well. Really showed the importance of both Bruce Wayne AND Batman to the city of Gotham in ways whole Bat-arcs couldn't do. If you haven't read it yet - do.

I just find it weird that there's actual "Wayne Enterprises" merch in-universe that the regular person (non WE-person) can buy (as opposed to the stuff companies make employees wear) and that said "Wayne" merch is so boring. Gray? Really, Bruce?

I know Virginia O'Brien's stone-faced gag was the defining thing in her career, but she was a beautiful lady, with a good singing voice, and impeccable comic delivery. Why MGM never built her up for potential leads is mystifying. Even Lucillle Bremer and Ginny Sims got leads!

Seminal viewing for any baseball fan of a certain age. The fact no version of this exists for the present game on regular TV is yet another strike against Manfred.

Jennifer Lawrence as Ava Gardner? In what universe? Middle-aged Leo as young Frank? Huh? Is this typical Hollywood fancasting? Or something Marty Scorcese actually said? I mean how....

My second favourite Whitey Herzog quote: When a reporter asked him about his hapless 1973 Texas Rangers squad that was more than 40 games under .500. "We just need two players to be a contender," Herzog told a reporter. Reporter: Who? Herzog: Sandy Koufax and Babe Ruth
"You wanna bet?" This Pete Rose story Whitey Herzog told @Frank_Cusumano will always be one of my favorites from the White Rat. Just an all-time great line.
"You know, David, if that had been a cheeseburger you wouldn't have dropped it." I'm knee deep in Whitey Herzog soundbites right now, and this may be my favorite. Easy to see why the players loved Whitey. He knew how to keep it loose.
To this day Keanu refuses to talk about brief period where he was Matlock's in-house private investigator in between Conrad McMasters and Cliff Lewis. It was too traumatic.

If Mel Stottlemyre had started his career back in the 50s when the Yankees were winning pennants, instead of starting his career when they were heading to the bottom of the standings, he'd be in the Hall of Fame. Just check his stats as a starter on some terrible late 60s teams.

This video of Whitey Herzog "upset" is... simply fantastic!! #STLCards #ForTheLou
Steve Nebraska in The Scout. Threw a perfect game with 27 K's in his debut - which happened to be in The World Series. And he hits 2 home runs. The greatest fictional ball player ever?

You’re on the road in 1977, windows down, wind in your air, feeling good. How do you take it to the next level? Meat Loaf 8-track.
These two should just be best friends instead of “childhood friends who flirted once” They’re so fun together when they’re just hanging out and solving crime
Gehrig was the most prolific RBI man on a rate basis in MLB history — and it isn’t even close
4/30/23 The Yankees take a chance and sign a free-agent kid from Columbia named Lou Gehrig. It works out.
@paleautumnmoon Also, apropos on nothing, it's silly how saloon girls in Westerns, working in barely-there frontier towns, are as lavishly decked out as grand duchesses or topflight Parisian can-can dancers.
(About hats) "They can be great fun. And it's TRUE that they can put a woman in a good mood. Anyone who laughs at this fact just knows nothing about the finer points of a woman's capacity for survival." ~ Marlene Dietrich

Their act gives off a spooky sense of Weimar even now. King of Jazz is important because it preserves a number of stage/vaudeville acts that otherwise we would have to guess at.
The Sisters G, German cabaret artists, Eleanor and Karla Gutöhrlein, displaying their adorably chaotic dancing style in King Of Jazz (1930).
I get sequels. People want more of a film they liked. Okay. But god help us all, why do studios think we want so many prequels? Is anyone saying, “please give my movies that lead UP to the cool stuff we like so we can know what happened before the good stuff?”
Historians now believe that at one time or another literally every American alive in the 60s and 70s owned one of these.
#metvbatman As of this writing, at age 94, John Astin is the only male Bat villain actor still with us today.

She deserves some of the credit for that. But Ms. Lansbury was not an Executive Producer until the last years of the series. The EP's decided on casting, and what they did by hiring veterans was laudible.
@classic_film One of the positives in Murder, She Wrote (ahead of any other mystery shows of its ilk) is that Angela Landsbury often stocked each show with more than one of her old recognizable Hollywood cronies, who sometimes it turned were in fact just minor characters after all.
I will never understand why Hollywood could never figure out what to do with Angela Lansbury #TCMParty #TheHarveyGirls
Monica Bellucci appreciation thread.
TNG's Cause and Effect has to be the best directed episode of Trek. Why? Because it is the same few scenes, yet every single time it is shot differently. A truly prodigious job from Frakes.
