Such a good thread this. Very succinctly explains what should be obvious about the future of energy and the dominance of renewables, and yet is so rarely understood.

@James_BG We do not have the material/mineral resources to build the machines that harness wind, wave, and sun to scale. Not even close. Nuclear is our best bet to avoid catastrophe, but even it won't be nearly enough. The era of cheap energy is coming to an end. That changes everything.
@James_BG Long way off. You need to invent electricity storage….
@James_BG Yet, as usual, the statement is completely oblivious to the mining resources required for a full RE transition but this is so rarely understood too! All the easy stuff has already been mined already applies to the minerals for renewables too!
@James_BG Yeah, it's rarely understood. Wiping out nature & calling it "green energy".
@James_BG Completely ignores limits to growth and is anthropocentric.
@James_BG Very good. @RockyMtnInst @KingsmillBond produce much supporting evidence and analysis.
@James_BG Completely ignores the third world as if it’s not relevant, FF are their only option.
