@roddreher @JDVance Hopefully, in light of your apparent endorsement of this piece, that you explain both the reconciliation and your support for him for president. Vance still has not, to my knowledge adequately distanced himself from these ideas and people. And that’s dangerous.

Why is it ‘cancelled’ in the U.K. but ‘canceled’ in the U.S.? Because we gave them that L in 1776.

It’s not clear which allegations in the Epstein files are true. What is clear, based on the breadth of Epstein‘s network and the volume of material, is that more people should have been prosecuted. The government has been shielding high-profile wrongdoers, including state actors.

JD Vance isn’t this stupid, so what he’s doing here is deliberate and evil. You don’t just need “some kind of warrant” to enter a home. You need a warrant from the judiciary. He knows this. He knows they’re breaking the law when they enter a home with an administrative warrant. He uses the phrase “administrative law judges” to mislead. An administrative warrant comes from DHS. They are writing their own “warrants,” which makes them no more valid under the Fourth Amendment than if a random person wrote on a piece of paper, “I can enter your house.”

JD Vance: "Nobody is talking about doing immigration enforcement without a warrant. We're talking about different types of warrants that exist in our system. Typically in the immigration system, those are handled by administrative law judges. So we're talking about getting

🚨 From Smears to Plate-Throwing: Inside UVA Law’s DEI Mob vs. Professor Xiao Wang Stick with this one—it’s worth the runtime. UVA law professor Xiao Wang explains what his own colleagues did to him after he argued Ames v. Ohio Department of Youth Services at the Supreme Court: Week after week, students came to his clinic saying that faculty or other students had harassed or chastised them — or had come into his office just to berate him. At a faculty lunch, a professor who opposed the case yells at him in public and throws a plate at him. Tenured faculty sent letters trying to “audit” his Supreme Court clinic after an open letter misrepresents his views. The law school convenes a panel on his case — staffed entirely by critics — and doesn’t invite the person who briefed and argued it. He says he reported the plate incident to the administration: “I’m not sure anything has happened.” And still, he refuses to play the victim. He describes his path from immigrant kid in rural Iowa to Supreme Court advocate — “short of playing for the Lakers, this is the American dream” — and warns that law schools are teaching students “to just judge and think later.” His verdict on his peers is even more damning: “Our job is just to teach the children, not be the children.”

Here’s the original clip of Ronald Reagan from April 25, 1987, where he delivered a complete and total rebuke against tariffs. Trump is calling Reagan’s words in this video “FAKE” and “fraudulent.” They’re 100% real. And the original clip is actually far worse for Trump, as much is left out of the ad. Watch this clip and read the full transcript: Throughout the world, there's a growing realization that the way to prosperity for all nations is rejecting protectionist legislation and promoting fair and free competition. Now, there are sound historical reasons for this. For those of us who lived through the Great Depression, the memory of the suffering it caused is deep and searing. And today, many economic analysts and historians argue that high tariff legislation passed back in that period, called the Smoot-Hawley tariff, greatly deepened the depression and prevented economic recovery. You see, at first when someone says, let's impose tariffs on foreign imports, it looks like they're doing the patriotic thing by protecting American products and jobs. And sometimes for a short while, it works, but only for a short time. What eventually occurs is, first, homegrown industries start relying on government protection in the form of high tariffs. They stop competing and stop making the innovative management and technological changes they need to succeed in world markets. And then, while all this is going on, something even worse occurs. High tariffs inevitably lead to retaliation by foreign countries and the triggering of fierce trade wars. The result is more and more tariffs, higher and higher trade barriers, and less and less competition. So soon, because of the prices made artificially high by tariffs that subsidize inefficiency and poor management, people stop buying. Then the worst happens. Markets shrink and collapse, businesses and industry shut down, and millions of people lose their jobs. The memory of all this occurring back in the 30s made me determined when I came to Washington to spare the American people the protectionist legislation that destroys prosperity. Now, it hasn't always been easy. There are those in the Congress, just as there were back in the 30s, who want to go for the quick political advantage, who risk America's prosperity for the sake of a short-term appeal to some special interest group, who forget that more than 5 million American jobs are directly tied to the foreign export business, and additional millions are tied to imports. Well, I've never forgotten those jobs. And on trade issues, by and large, we've done well.

The problem I see with this is not so much the description of pastoral ministry. The pastor as pastor is not a political activist. Even even if spiritual ministry is “weak” in relation to earthly power, laypeople can as Christians be political activists and pursue Christian civil order. They can seek, acquire, and use “worldly” power for their good. So the problem is that people like Trueman transfer the “weakness” of sacred ministry to the non-minister’s political activity. But we should confine that to pastors, not the rest of us.
