The hug that saved a life In 1995, the twins, Kyrie and Brielle Jackson, were born 12 weeks premature, each weighing only about 2 pounds. They were placed in separate incubators. One twin was not expected to survive. She went into critical condition. Her heart rate was rising while her oxygen level was dropping significantly. They were about to lose her. It was then that one nurse, Gale Kasparian, went against the hospital rules and standard procedure, putting the healthy twin next to her struggling sister in the same incubator. This decision turned out to be life-saving. Once the twins were close to each other, the struggling sister (Brielle) snuggled up to the healthy sister (Kyrie) who put her arms around Brielle. Almost immediately after, Brielle's vital signs started stabilizing. Her heart rate and oxygen levels normalized. Both twin sisters eventually survived and grew into strong young women. The picture below came to be known as the rescuing hug and would change a part of our understanding of medicine. Hugging that is coming from the heart is proven to have calming and healing effects. Maybe there is someone in your life that can use a warm and heartfelt hug right now.
@SharonJKGlenn It was a tough ending after 34 years in the classroom for sure.
Be of good courage and He will strengthen your heart, all you who hope in the LORD. Psalm 31:24. ABBA Father, who or what can we turn to in such desperate times? You have the words of TRUTH which guide us to the way of PEACE. Lead us, Gentle Shepherd,we pray.🐑🙏🏻🎶

Over the last few weeks we have focused on America’s faults. We must work to improve those things but today we should celebrate our country’s birthday. We enjoy a lot of blessings and I’m thankful I live in America. I pray that God will show us how to help our country grow! 🙏🏽
@robyndepping Awesome list! You can’t go wrong recommending these books! Hope you get a chance to read them too.
@mtndewmath Lions of Little Rock and Stella By Starlight are great historical fiction books I’d add to your reading list. If you are looking for great memoirs try Brown Girl Dreaming, The 57 Bus, and We Beat the Streets. All excellent!
So I’m giving feedback on one of my last 6th grade papers which involved a reflection of a Ted talk and I read this response. 😭 Never underestimate the difference teachers make in the lives of others. So grateful and blessed to have chosen this occupation.
@AnkenyPRMS @JimWichman @JKLMSteffen @anbruns10 What a fun surprise! You all rock for taking the time to deliver all of these signs which put smiles on our faces. PR will always hold a special place in my ❤️!

Yes kids are losing in-school time. But if this ruler represents grades 1 through 12, they’re only losing 1/4 of an inch. During this time let kids dig into “important other things.” Such as grit, creativity, ingenuity, gratitude & empathy. Having strong shoulders for others/self
Dear Prairie Ridge Students... Every Monday we will have a special message for you! We miss seeing your smiling faces every day #wearePR #ANKENYSTRONG @AnkenySchools

Enjoyed working with these gals after school designing scrapbooking pages. Also fun to listen in on their conversations about their school day.
