@agraybee @lxeagle17 Sure, but he ran a real campaign. This is more like if he ran for Senate is Massachusetts, lost, then the newly elected Senator from Utah steps down to trigger a by-election that Romney then runs in

@agraybee Similar to how some holocaust deniers will claim that yes there were camps but the death rates weren't that high, gas wasn't used etc. The claim is yes there were schools, but parents agreed to them, most people were happy etc.

@SC_Politician I hope that this happens, but I fear that it's more likely we're going to see further restrictions on women that push them into having children instead. The anti-abortion crowd has been making a big shift towards anti-birth control lately

@legalist217 @IRHotTakes Did you read the investigation? She was adopted by a First Nations family when she was 25 after misrepresenting herself as being indigenous adopted by white parents (which there is no evidence for)

Super cool that people are realizing pregnancy and birth are actually serious medical conditions that can go badly and simultaneously think it's fine to outsource that work to people with fewer resources

Honestly even if the analysis is right and the Province does have an excess in revenue, I think we can all agree that our health care and education systems need that money more than municipalities which, again, have the ability to raise their own revenue

Municipalities literally have the ability to increase taxes. If they want more money, they should increase taxes.

#Analysis: The surge in revenues flowing into Ontario government coffers — at a time when municipal budgets are stretched thin — is reigniting debate over how cities fund their services. cbc.ca/news/canada/to…

@wow_tru @schimschone @KathrynTewson @nadsdugal @DSedarice @JosephPoulin175 @AlexHamiltonRad @marclauritsen @GTeninbaum @jordan_law21 I’m trying to figure out how this could be true. Even at $1000/hour, that’s 23,000 hours (deduct some amount for taxes and disbursements I guess). What could you possibly have done to need that much legal work?

@TessaDare @kieralw Is this the time to tell you that figgy pudding is also a meat "pudding"? I always assumed it was pudding made with figs, but no.

Like the idea that developers are dipping into their own profits to pay these is kind of silly. And the idea that existing homeowners shouldn't have to help fund growth - esp when growth means they get more services! - is not a belief that promotes community

Development charges just get passed on to the new home buyers and I'm personally not convinced that it's appropriate to pass on fees for things that benefit everyone to only the new residents. Maybe municipalities should raise taxes on everyone if they want those benefits

I made a substack. It has no theme and is really just a way to have a blog but be less google-able. Feel free to check it out. rebeccalittle.substack.com/p/all-my-unhin…

Like you put all this time and thought into the quality of the coffee, and then just choose whatever tea your supplier suggests, no questions asked

I get that hipster coffee shops are run by coffee people, but it would be great to find one that offered more than a matcha latte and flavoured loose leaf as tea options

Obviously not the only reason, but I will say the fact that I had to stand in line for a full 30 minutes to vote in Kitchener yesterday probably didn't help...
