A more programmatic approach through auctions is the way forward. We were the first AI cloud to introduce a successful auction. (I can talk all day about why the marketplace approach doesn’t work that well, btw. Hint: compute is not a commodity!) And now we have the auction built directly into the platform. More to come.

They rented openai and anthropic by the token, and after a march agent update, token use jumped about 20x this year. Sure their ARR doubled ($190M to $400M+), but gross margin went from 50% to about −50% by june. revenue 2× / tokens 20× that ratio didn't work with their pricing model the quiet part of a lot of AI SaaS in last few years was that lawyers (and everyone else) were not really using the thing. The low adoption looked like high margin. Then the agents got good enough that people left the tab open. Multi hop drafting, cite checks, redlines, long context. Each seat started acting like a small inference farm. so they did what every crushed wrapper eventually does: move the bulk off the frontier. In August they shipped tenet, post trained on Kimi K3. Margins turned positive again after that plus other usage changes (exact mix of traffic on tenet still opaque) agent seats are software until the product works, after that they become a routing problem: cap the customer, meter them, or own a cheaper model path you can actually run. this is basically the job of @nebiustf: serve the open source side of that routing decision so the app layer can keep seats without dying on someone else’s token price. jevons with a P&L attached

@greta @greta what all these patients need is approval. First in the UK and in the United States. I think something nefarious may be going on with the MHRA in London and our own FDA. There is definitive proof that this therapy works so why the delay in approval ?
