You know what shook me when I was Muslim? The story of Hosea. God tells a prophet to marry a woman He knows will betray him. She does. She runs to other men. She ends up enslaved, sold, used up, worthless to the world. And God tells Hosea to go BUY HER BACK. To pay money for his own wife who cheated on him, and love her again. Hosea 3. I thought it was the most humiliating command in the Bible. Why would any man do that? Then I realized I was the wife. I gave my heart to everything but God. I chased other masters. I sold myself cheap. I made myself worthless. And God looked at me, the betrayer, and didn’t say “you’re not worth it.” He said, “Name the price. I’m buying her back.” That’s the Gospel. God doesn’t wait for the unfaithful to come crawling back clean. He pays to redeem them while they’re still dirty. Islam told me to make myself worthy of God. Hosea showed me a God who pays to redeem the unworthy. The cross was Him naming the price. Praise the Lord.

Gentle parenting trope I have seen A LOT of: Small child, usually boy, does something he obviously shouldn't. Parent says no. Child then looks directly at the parent and then does the same thing again, in full defiance. At this point, when I was a kid this would have meant an immediate spanking. My parents wouldn't even raise their voices. They would just discipline us and then move on. But with the Gentle Parent they're now locked in a battle with the child where they have to literally restrain the boy while he squirms and throws a tantrum, just to repeat the offense when released. I don't get this. Not my child, not my problem, but I don't think this model works very well. Especially when the parent gets visibly frustrated and yells at the boy. In reality, the kid is simply looking for a boundary. Once it is established and enforced then he knows what he cannot get away with. This is reassuring to the child. It gives him a clear sense or order in his life. The parent is an authority who loves him enough to protect the structure of his life.

Could you imagine if there were notebooks that said “The future is male” at department stores? Mugs that say “I drink female tears.” Sweaters that say “Dump Her.” What would little girls think if they saw those? I just don’t understand why it’s acceptable the other way around.

The way to “get through” any pregnancy, regardless of circumstance, is to surrender and do so graciously. Not min/max. Let go. You can have pity parties the entire time or you can completely surrender to the ride and mentally prepare to meet your newest baby. You cannot do both.

@lovelyardie @audrawrongspeak Ok so I’m an overproducer too. My second baby is almost 3 months old and I decided to just let one of my breasts dry up 😳 so I only feed her on one side. It’s sooooo much better now!!

The American dream isn’t more money. It’s a Sunday like this: 1. Bible study and hot coffee 2. Family breakfast 3. Take your family to church 4. Family lunch together 5. Play in the yard all day 6. Grill out and eat on the patio 7. Walk to park 8. Bedtime stories and prayer 9. Hang out with wife and plan week And, not stressing about money once. That’s wealth.

My toddler napping is my break. I’m clocking out. I’ll get some stuff done here and there, or make lunch. But that is my time…. I’m brain rotting or reading or working out… doing something for myself. When I realized I can just get chores done when he’s awake, and he can either play or help, it was very freeing. This is advice I’d give all new moms. Don’t worry about occupying your kid so you can get stuff done. Just let them watch or help. It will take 10x longer but it will give you something to do on the days you’re just at home. Kids don’t need entertainment 24/7 and if you get a lunch break working a real job, you should get one as a SAHM too 😂

So many new moms think they have low supply in the first few days because only drops are coming out. The baby wants to be on the breast constantly, which makes it feel like they're not getting enough. Some start supplementing with formula almost immediately because they're scared their baby is starving. But colostrum isn't supposed to come in large quantities. A newborn's stomach on day one holds about 5-7ml per feed. That's roughly a teaspoon. Those few drops of colostrum are designed for that tiny stomach. It's thick, concentrated, and packed with immunoglobulins, white blood cells, and growth factors that protect your baby in those critical first days. Ounce for ounce, it's more immune dense than mature milk. The constant feeding isn't a sign of low supply. It's how the baby signals your body to bring in more milk. That demand is what triggers the transition from colostrum to mature milk. I wonder how many women gave up on breastfeeding or supplemented too early because nobody told them this is exactly how it's supposed to work.
