Lost my streak for a while, but finally finished up the full Mathematical Foundations series on @_MathAcademy_ !
Despite having both a BS and an MS in Math, I had a lot of gaps in my knowledge stemming from subpar elementary, middle school, and high school educations that I had…
tomorrow is my 1y @_MathAcademy_ anniversary. 97% through MFIII, i'll sprint for the finish by tomorrow. the most exciting part: it's not the beginning of the end, but the end of a beginning.
next year, i'll turn 40. not gonna lie, there were many moments during the program i…
There is tons of renewed energy around education thanks to @patrick_oshag’s wonderful write up and podcast on @AlphaSchoolATX. For those curious in learning more, I can’t recommend @justinskycak’s book on education principles highly enough. It warps your brain!…
It’s shocking how much we know about how learning happens, all the way down to the mechanics of what’s going on in the brain.
And it’s not just how learning happens, but also, what we can do to improve learning.
There are plenty of learning-enhancing practice strategies that…

With SAT test dates looming, my team and I have been ferociously updating our SAT Math Fundamentals course with new content.
These new topics are tailored to help prepare students for some of the more niche, trickier questions that could show up on the exam.
An example...

MathAcademy and TrainerRoad are two apps I love, b/c both are focused exclusively on whatever makes you better. They aren't trying to be fun or trying to convince ppl who aren't ready to start. Instead they have a single promise: do what we say when we say and you'll get better.
We're adding new scaffolding topics to our SAT Fundamentals course for the more advanced material covered on the exam, critical to achieving high scores! We've been referring to these topics as the "missing middle" which Justin and Alex describe in these posts.

I accidentally cleared my knowledge profile because I wanted to retake the diagnostic for M4ML. Instead, I was forced to take the full diagnostics for MFII and MFIII. And here we go — I got 100% on MFII and 97% on MFIII. The knowledge in my brain wasn’t erased!
Reached 10k XP!!!
It is after so many years that I am able to consistently maintain a habit, and this website makes it so easy to do so!
It's safe to say I have beaten my math trauma as well.
Thank you @_MathAcademy_ team, I truly feel like I leveled up these past few months!
6 months since we found @_MathAcademy_: my younger kid went from "I hate math, it's boring!" to staying up wondering what i^i is and then being absolutely delighted at figuring out it's a real number.
My older kid went from "I get this, but keep making stupid mistakes" to good…
@_MathAcademy_ Today My son ( soon to be 9th grader) took his 2nd SAT math practice test, 7 months after his first attempt, without any formal preparation.
He boosted his score by 140 points, from 640 to 780, just by engaging with the MA courses. He’s currently progressing…
Somehow @_MathAcademy_ came across my For You feed a few months ago and I was intrigued. Mainly because my wife and I homeschool our kids, but also because I’ve been thinking long term about what things would look like for math in 5 years with my oldest. Years ago I stopped after…
Adding some derivations to the @_MathAcademy_ curriculum that some users have asked for.
Please let me know if there are any other derivations you'd like to see.

Update for anyone following ML/CS course progress: We're considering just going ahead and releasing ML1 first, later this summer, without having CS1 out, and warning people that they need to come into ML1 with solid coding chops in Python.
Of course, the downside is that there…

Bloom’s two-sigma result—the average child tutored one-on-one with mastery learning outperforms the typical classroom student by two standard deviations—has never struck me as evidence of mystical tutoring powers.
It simply proves that “one-size-fits-all” schooling is…
A huge update to @_MathAcademy_'s curriculum is currently underway. I'm adding (literally) thousands of new free-response questions.
Updating topics once they're live can be tricky. Thankfully, @justinskycak built a CLI tool that makes adding new questions to the system a…
Finished MF3, and thought it'd be a good time to tell a bit of my story and experience with MA @_MathAcademy_
I'm 20 years out of high school, and always thought of myself as 'bad at math', as it never came easily (compared to other subjects), and because there always others…
The multi-step problem sets of "Methods of Proof" are so excellent. They are extremely helpful for improving logical thinking and the ability to follow explicit instructions. @_MathAcademy_ It is worth taking for all high school students and even some junior high school students.
I cannot believe I learned all of this math in less than a year. @_MathAcademy_ changed my life. All of the other technical subjects are ripe for the taking
