After 60 years, the music of the 1960s and early '70s is at least as popular on numerous radio stations as it was when it was new. You also may have noticed that there are lots of "old" songs currently being used in TV commercials. The music was ALIVE. It was made by humans playing analog instruments in the same studio at the same time. Singers sang directly to tape; there was no "Auto-Tune," no "plug-ins" making every vocal and every song sound like every other soulless elevator music.

@FrankBr05713205 I also remember buying filtered used oil in glass bottles with the screw on metal spouts. This was in the mid '60s.

True. My frame of reference was in Staten Island, NYC and nearby Elizabeth, New Jersey during the very early 1950s. I also remember buying gasoline in both Staten Island at $0.329 and in Elizabeth at $0.269 in 1966. There was also a probable influence on pricing from the fact that there was an Esso Standard Oil refinery in Elizabeth at the time.

That’s a very interesting question. Having spent many decades involved in the valuation of quarry mines, including architectural limestone quarries, I’ve had several discussions with the people who cut and prepare these blocks for use in buildings like the one in the picture in this post. In the past, there was only very high-pressure sandblasting, which would remove the dirt and would also remove about 1/3 of a millimeter of the surface. It would also leave the surface a bit less smooth than a newly prepared and installed block. However, that would only result in the treated surface becoming more susceptible to becoming more dirty more quickly. Today, there’s “soft blasting” and “wet blasting” that minimize the surface damage. There are also micro sealing treatments that can be used to make the stone’s surface less porous than even newly prepared stone. As for power washing, some say it does as much damage to the surface as sandblasting, and most say it doesn’t result in as clean a surface as sandblasting. Great question. Maybe someone who actually does this for a living has a more definitive answer.

@Charlie1691 There's only one problem with the Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States. It has to be used for its intended purpose, or it has no value.

@BarbellFi If you actually knew anything about the cost of Medicare you'd know that anyone collecting $5k/month Social Security is paying over $1,000/month for Medicare. Wake up, man. Learn something instead of making a fool of yourself.

@JoshuaBarzon For me, it all comes down to what’s available where I am when the need for fuel arises. I’ve used WaWa, Sheetz, Pilot, Petro, Loves, Speedway, QT, Circle K, Raceway, Delta, depending on what’s available where I am.
