I’m a member of the Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation & am overwhelmed by the hateful comments directed towards our Chief, Allan Adam. Since everyone seems to have an opinion on whether the police assault on him was warranted, here are a few points worth considering:
The dashcam video from a police cruiser shows the arrest of Athabasca Chipewyan Chief Allan Adam by members of the Wood Buffalo RCMP. Adam ended up with a bloodied and bruised face after the March 10 arrest.
Ppl saying brutality against peaceful protesters is justified because "the looters and rioters make them ALL look bad" and ppl who say "we can't blame ALL cops for the actions of a few bad apples" are the same people. 🤔 #PoliceBrutalityPandemic
Indigenous people are not punching bags and target practice for police. Let’s name it #SystematicRacism #PoliceBrutalityPandemic
Chief Allan Adam of Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation in Northern AB was beaten by police a few months ago- he’s one of Canada’s most prolific First Nations leaders. His story just came out w/ the Globe & Mail today. He broke to tears recollecting this: theglobeandmail.com/amp/politics/a…

Sorry if this sounds selfish or arrogant, but my last concern is people's inconvenience. Just imagine the inconvenience of being oppressed.
