Gotta feel for Francis Howell Distance Program. In shambles as of right now. A lot has happened. A fun team to watch last year. Whilst under Jerod Broadbooks. I’ve heard some things and you gotta feel for the kids. Gut wrenching stuff.

Athletes who gripe about not getting better, but only do what is required of them is a joke. Do you want it or not. hint: the little stuff (mentality, sleep, hydration) Those are not little stuff that is where your training takes leaps and bounds.

WHAT IS HAPPENING IN THE STATE. (Workouts) -Double Threshold and you run 4:30 and in hs -Coaches having teams at 3 workouts a week at this point in the season. -This is a joke Simply not good enough to be doing this, you’re burning kids and talent.

Rockhurst is going to win state for xc. -Those guys are tough. -They are good. Only two reasons why because no one else has both those characteristics.

Athletes who want it will be in bed by 10 and at practice at 7. My athletes did it. 6/7 (varsity) all worked 40+ hours a week and ran 50 miles. Drop the phone!

No matter what coaching you receive in HS. As long as you do everything asked of you to a 90%+ degree. I guarantee YOU WILL find a place on college roster.

A BIG misconception of HS runners is the fact they focus to much on Heart rate and gear they are training in. This carries no form of grit or mental toughness. (What built the sport). Would love to see the old school XC to come back with the recovery technologies we have now.
