Day 2 521 as WORLD CHAMPIONS 🏆

@playbokkle @antonievdw

Really fast starting pack with JHW and Zach as props, Paul de Vinnig at 6 and Sous back in. Intriguing 2018 pairing of Herschel + Handré. Bench = bombalicious: Q/SFM, Lood, the Pain Train + torturous emergency brake foot front row.

@jaredwright17 Marco at 8. Lekker.

🚨 Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus named a new-look team for their one-off Test against Australia. 👏 50 up for Jasper Wiese 🫡 Andre Esterhuizen captains the side. #AUSvRSA

Who wins in a game between the URCs top XV and the Prems top XV for the 26/27 season?! #PremRugby #URC #Rugby

Good morning global rugby family from beautiful Cancun in Mexico. I continue my task to research and to present to you all the financial state of the game across the world. I have now completed this exercise for the Top 11 nations in World Rugby. Here is the SARU current state of affairs and like their performance on the field the SARU for now is holding a strong position with a few warnings. With the Bulls, Sharks and Stormers being privately owned the losses made are being hidden from view and are currently being absorbed by some rich families. South Africa's move away from Super Rugby has been a beneficial transition. New Zealand has definitely been the one hurt. On the flip side the URC Shareholder position allows the SARU to diversify its revenue generation and add more profits. There is a cost to this and I will watch to see how it progresses. For now well done SARU. #springboks #SARU #southafrica

Reset 🔃 Who will be on top after Round 1? 👀 #BKTURC #URC

@rugbyphilosophy Now this is lekka. @jaredwright17 if you get tired, he’s got your back. 😃

There’s a big discussion at The Breakdown today about the Springboks and their depth: “There are only 23 players can play on the day and that’s what you are up against “ And that’s a fact. There are only 23 players on the field, and I know for a fact that South Africa knows exactly what their best side is. That best side played against the All Blacks in all 4 Tests. That’s a fact. But do you know what depth gives you? Longevity. The Bok players are getting older and many of them are reaching the latter stages of their careers. But their incredible depth means they don’t have to play every single game. They only have to play the important games because they have quality, like-for-like replacements waiting outside the 23. And that’s where South Africa’s depth becomes so frightening. Rassie Erasmus has created an environment where you can bring a player into the team and expect him to perform because everyone understands their role. The system is clear. The standards are clear. The cohesion isn’t necessarily a problem because the players coming in already understand how the team operates. Compare that with the All Blacks. Can we rest Cam Roigard against Scotland? Can we rest Jordie Barrett? I don’t think we can. South Africa can say: “Damian de Allende and Jesse Kriel aren’t playing this week. We’ll put Damian Willemse at 12 and André Esterhuizen at 13,” or make other combinations within their system, and they can still expect those players to perform the same roles at an incredibly high level. That is what depth gives you. It’s not about having a 23-man team that is better than everyone else’s 23. If it’s simply 23 vs 23, the difference might not be that significant. It’s what happens over an entire season and especially over a Rugby World Cup cycle. In 2027, you will see South Africa rotate heavily through the pool stages. Maybe some pool games will feature a completely different side. Maybe one of the games they field their strongest XV. Then, when they reach the knockout stages, they can bring their best players back in fresh and ready for the Round of 16, quarter-final and beyond. And the biggest advantage is that they have the luxury of bringing almost anyone into that environment and expecting them to play the same way as the person they’re replacing. That’s the scary part. The rest of the world shouldn’t just be scared of South Africa’s best 23. They should be scared of South Africa’s depth and what that depth does to the longevity of their best players. And you have to give Rassie Erasmus enormous credit for creating an environment where that is possible. #Springboks #Allblacks #Rugby #RSAvNZL 🇿🇦🇳🇿 | THE GREATEST RIVALRY TOUR
