A father told his daughter, "Congrats on your graduation. I bought you a car a while back. I want you to have it now." Before I give it to you, take it to a car dealer in the city and sell it. See how much they offer.” The girl came back to her father & said: "They offered me $10,000 dollars because it looks very old" Father said: "Ok, now take it to the pawn shop". The girl returns to her father & said: "The pawn shop offered $1,000 dollars because it's a very old car & a lot of work done". The father told her to join a passionate car club with experts & show them the car. The girl drove to the passionate car club. She returned to her father after a few hours & told him, “Some people in the club offered me $100k because its a rare car that's in good condition.” Then the father said, "I wanted to let you know that you are not worth anything if you are not in the right place. If you are not appreciated, do not be angry, that means you are in the wrong place. Don't stay in a place where no one sees your value ." The moral of the story : Know your worth and know where you are valued. A diamond doesn't shine on the bottom of a cave.

Was great seeing Mesha & Nikya today for their induction into the MACC Lady Greyhound HOF. Two of the best I’ve ever had the pleasure of coaching..

"I don't always tell them what they want to hear. But it's extremely important that I tell them what they need to hear. I don't tell them how great they are. I tell them how hard they have got to work to be great." -Kelvin Sampson

"It's called changing a limit. Parents today don't allow their kids to change their limits. They're worried about them failing instead of learning. But you learn through the experience of failure & success" Don't steal their struggle. Productive struggle produces positive results

I refuse to believe that 1500+ kids made a “bad” decision or were “lied” to by college coaches. Some yes but 1500+, no way. I do believe that a lot of these kids for the first time got to school and heard the TRUTH and ran because they had to actually work and compete!!!

Imagine hearing about a 6-year-old losing his arm then 11 years later seeing this video of him. This kid is amazing.

I believe in being brutally honest. Be real with them. Challenge them. Hold them accountable. Hug them when they need to be hugged. Average players want to be left alone. Good players want to be coached. The great ones want to be told the truth. Kim Mulkey on coaching:

NW MO State is an absolute joy to watch. They are putting on a clinic in ball movement & unselfish basketball. One might say that they play the game the "right way". Basketball coaches & purists would really enjoy watching this team. @NWBearcatMBB @BearcatRadio @bearcatsports

4 years of showing up everyday to practice. 4 years of making his team better. Teams that win big games win those games because of guys like this. Everyone can’t be the leading scorer but everyone that is fortunate enough to be on a team can be a great teammate. #WinInTheDark

Upset Parent: “I don’t understand why my son doesn’t have a scholarship offer!” Me: “Well; he never showed up for voluntary workouts, went through the motions during lifting, doesn’t practice hard & under-achieved academically...” UP: “But his trainer says he’s D1!” Me: ...

Interestingly enough, last night was “First Responders Night” at the Alabama State Texas Southern WBB game. I wonder if any of them jumped in when this broke out...

If you don't love it, you'll never be great at it. If you don't love it, you won't work to overcome all the challenges to keep doing it. If you love what you do, you won't quit when the world says you should. You will continue to show up every day & do the work. #DrivenByLove

Players: If you think HS coaching & practices are hard to handle, you sure won’t be able to tolerate playing in college! Many kids say they want to play in college, but few can adapt. Learn to embrace the hard parts now because college is a whole different level! -@CoachJonBeck
