The concept of destroying a group “in part” is a problem. What is a part of a group? An individual, 10, 10,000? They already have definitions of war crimes to cover that, so why all the focus on genocide. Genocide is charged to strip the Jews of their status as historical victims of genocide, so that they can be forced to live with a hostile population intent on committing genocide against them again, and are prohibited by international law from responding when that group starts to implement their ambitions

Ukraine is in an existential struggle. Why should they worry about the effects of diesel prices in a country that is not? Hitting powerplants does not affect the military much except for electric train logistics, armies run on diesel. The US is selling Ukraine aid for the most part, not giving it to them

Military didn’t plan for a prolonged war of intercepting missiles, the assumption was a war that was driven to a conclusion. Not a war where you continue indefinately to catch missiles for months, firing two interceptors at each incoming missile. How the war is fought is a political choice that impacts munitions used.

@RoKhanna @mcuban What if the shares are worth less in ten years or so? The Government should not be impatient, they’ll get the money with the current law down the line when/if the shares appreciate and are sold. If the issue is too many loopholes, fix those rather than taxing unrealized gains.

The core idea of the Democrat pary is redistribution of wealth. They have gathered, like squirrels finding nuts, ideas that support that goal. Grievance politics, DEI, critical race theory, the 1619 project, reparations, “you didn’t build that” are all arguments in support of redistributing money to Democrat constituencies. The arguments may change but the goal endures.

How does occupying Kharg Island damage Iran more than blockading Iran ports, including Kharg Island? Alternatively destroying Kharg Island removes the value of allowing its use from negotiations. Destroying Kharg Island makes sense only if we want to leave Iran damaged economically, after ending the blockade.
