I take slight issue with John’s letter. Of course Scotland could be independent. Anywhere COULD. But we’d be significantly poorer. Nothing like Brexit, far, far worse. Braveheart encapsulates everything wrong with modern Scotland. Grown men cosplaying Mel Gibson. Ffs.

If you want to understand how disingenuous the SNP meltdown over electricity standing charges is, consider this. For metered customers, publicly owned Scottish Water’s annual fixed charges are almost 4x higher than the equivalent charges Londoners pay to Thames Water.

For the wealthy & financially sophisticated, a new currency would be optional. But for public sector workers, or those reliant on the state pension or benefits, it would be compulsory & deeply harmful. Inequalities would sharply widen. The SNP is callously indifferent to this.

Nothing more depressing on Twitter than SNP supporters reactions to Scotlands drug death figures. It’s always someone else’s fault, from Westminster to Thatcher. It’s disingenuous pish. The cause is the SNP slashing funding for drug services by half. Never let them forget it.

Nicola Sturgeon is using the ‘thank you’ she was given, and the promise she made to lead us through the recovery, to instead pit Scot against Scot and focus on her priority, her obsession, her purpose. Scotland deserves better.

i think my favourite scottish nationalists are the ones who insist scotland should be independent “just like other successful small nations” … but that the UK would continue to fund the £8billion pa scottish state pension bill … and also that we’d double the state pension!
