Update on Dan #Duggan case: court refused to give him time to obtain legal aid, reportedly because he is bright enough to represent himself! He isn’t a lawyer, and he certainly has no expertise in extradition law. Bernard Collaery made a dramatic revelation to the court – that the two substantive US allegations would not be successful because they did not apply to Australian citizens - as Dan is. “This man is an Australian citizen and could not be and cannot be tried for two of the counts.. The US has no right to prosecute an Australian citizen for something that isn’t an offence in Australia.” More here including some words from Dan’s counsel outside the court: news.com.au/national/nsw-a…
@MaryKostakidis So, we’ve got #DanDuggan and #JulianAssange, both Australian citizens and both being charged by our ‘wonderful friends’ with crimes that could see them both imprisoned? At least Julian has lawyers. Come on @AlboMP @MarkDreyfusKCMP this has to stop. #TheUSAisGuilty
@MaryKostakidis @McShayne2011 Just don’t tell the Magistrate you had the acumen to heuristic this.

@MaryKostakidis @SydWalker USA once again having its way! Speak up Albo - DD is entitled to legal aid.
@MaryKostakidis This entire level of US bullying of an Australian citizen is as much a stain on the spineless Australian govt/AG as it is on the warmongering US.
@MaryKostakidis Where would we be without Collaery?
@MaryKostakidis "Mr Duggan’ lawyer ... said they were “disappointed” with the outcome. She refuted the magistrate’s comment that the prospect of Mr Duggan’s extradition was “not as dire as might usually be the case” because he wasn’t being shipped off to a “third world country”. What?! 😲😠
@MaryKostakidis Isn't that the same with Julian?
