We’re live from IIDR Trainee Day 2023, excited to hear about the amazing infectious disease research being carried out by the students and trainees working in IIDR labs.
Keynote speaker @Goodman_lab of @YaleMed is starting things off with a talk on dietary xenobiotics — fascinating research that explores how the foods we eat can impact our risk of disease.
Congratulations to Jarrod Johnson, Research Associate in the Magolan Lab, on receiving this year’s Michael Kamin Hart Staff Award!
Congratulations also to Autumn Arnold of @ItsJonStokes' Lab! Autumn is the 2023 recipient of the Michael Kamin Hart Undergraduate Award for research into how AI can predict antibacterial activity in highly virulent and antibiotic-resistant bacterial pathogens.
@ItsJonStokes Victoria Lee of the Gillgrass Lab is this year’s recipient of the Michael Kamin Hart MSc Award. Victoria is being recognized for research into the role of Interleukin 17 in host defense against HIV, tuberculosis, and HIV/tuberculosis co-infection. Congratulations, Victoria!
@ItsJonStokes This year’s Michael Kamin Hart PhD Award recipient is Michael D’Agostino of the @Millerlab_atMac. Michael received the award for research into respiratory mucosal delivery of DNA aptamers as a countermeasure against SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. Congrats, Michael!
@ItsJonStokes @Millerlab_atMac Congratulations to Luke Yaeger of @Dr_Lori_Burrows’ lab! Luke received the 2023 Michael Kiley Award for research into dual-action inhibitors against the Gram-negative bacteria Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
@ItsJonStokes @Millerlab_atMac @Dr_Lori_Burrows Thank you to the Hart family for celebrating with us today, and for your continued support of IIDR student research! Michael's legacy lives on through these generous awards.
Congratulations to Manoj Jangra, a postdoctoral fellow in @gerryiidr’s lab, for winning the 2023 Mildred Gulliver Postdoctoral Award in Infectious Diseases. Manoj is being celebrated for his research into a novel lasso peptide antibiotic with broad-spectrum activity.
