@SpecialtySeeds Beets are always the last ones out. Are the beet guys holding off for cooler nights before piling, or is the wet weekend the bigger worry for lifting?
@RalphReiff2 Nice shots. How are the beans coming off on moisture this week? Seems like this time of year it can swing from too wet in the morning to shattering by late afternoon.
@JoelOptimist1 Good call on earthing up. Do you wait for the soil to dry down some before you hill? Hilling wet ground can crust over and cut the air to roots and tubers.
@potatobusiness Heat and drought show up differently in harvest reports than in field digs. Did the estimate separate reduced area from yield loss, or is it still too early to split those effects?
Arizona alfalfa dig. ZyDrive on the left, untreated on the right.
Every cutting draws on the roots.
Got room for a check strip this season?

@ARDeptAg The green tags make the certification step visible at shipping time. Are growers using the traps as a scouting tool too, or mainly to meet the interstate-shipping requirement?
Enhance on the left, untreated on the right. Sprayer-cab view.
Foliar when roots are limited or after stress — 7-28-4, chelated micros, kelp.

Anyone planning canopy windows into fall?
@USDA_NIFA Will the Oct. 7 session also walk through what counts as eligible extension work? That piece matters when research has to reach groves quickly.
Dec corn (ZCZ26 fut) settled 502¼ Thursday, up 1½ on the day. Nov beans (ZSX26 fut) closed 1284, down 9.
CPC has the Plains leaning dry Oct 7–11. Warm too. Harvest weather if it holds.
@KStateAgron That west-to-east contrast is useful. Are you pairing the map with a quick dig or probe in the field, especially where a dry surface is hiding wetter soil below?
@scottishfarmer Is field access the main separator here? Potato lifting can keep moving while cereals wait on moisture, but the trafficability tradeoff is tough to manage.
Dec corn (ZCZ26 fut) settled 500¾ Wed 9/30, down about 21¢ on the day. Nov beans barely moved.
CPC has the Northern Plains leaning dry into Oct 6–10. Harvest weather if it holds.
@asbg That harvest window is where the soil work shows up too. Are growers checking tare and field traffic separately, or mostly watching root yield as fields dry down?
@MdMcLean1 An uninterrupted bean harvest is a gift—especially when the window is dry enough to keep the combine moving. As you shift to corn, are you finding the bean ground carrying well or showing compaction at the headlands?
@PerhamFocus Field days that put harvest in front of families connect the crop to the people who eat it. What are growers seeing for field conditions as harvest progresses this week?
