We were called to a fault at a food factory where they had an extruder that was tripping out on an over temperature alarm. This extruder drive was overheating due to a blocked heatsink. The drive was removed from the panel and cleaned, no further problems occurred.

We found this encoders flex mount and pin were worn causing excessive rotation on the encoder. The drive picks this movement as speed variation and alters its response causing torque spikes and a reduction in smooth running. not just drives...

One of our engineers replacing the thyristors on a DC drive for a slitting machine. We stock spare thyristors for emergency breakdowns and worked into the night to get the machine running for the next days production.

Retro fitting ABB ACS380 drives in place of some older Eurotherm 608 and 601 drives for a furnace control. Although the Eurotherm drives were still working, the ACS380 offers greater communications and monitoring, they are part of the customers future proofing for any upgrades.

A recent upgraded one of our customers nip rollers in a steel rolling mill. The system had a tacho interface box that was prone to problems & drift which caused issues with changing speeds. We fitted a GV210 encoder switch & now the feedback is digital & no longer prone to drift.

A recent out on a breakdown of a recoiler The firewire card in the HMI was the cause of the fault but a replacement wasnt available in the time needed by the customer. Instead we were able to replace the firewire with an Ethernet system with no loss of quality or reliability

In the UK an 11KW motor typically costs under £500 to buy, yet over £50,000 to run over a 10 year operating life. The purchase price is therefore around 1 percent of the motors total life cycle cost. Is a cheap motor worth the saving against a higher efficiency model?

A retro fit of an ABB DCS800 on a web handling machine, this was fitted to replace an old analogue drive which was starting to become unreliable and no longer cost effective for the production line.

We had a two man team working together retrofitting 4 x Sprint drives, fuses, Bardac Ethernet cards and encoders to a process line. The system allows us to upgrade a drive section at a time to minimize downtime.
