Interesting analysis by @BurggrabenH on the Strait of Hormuz. His key argument: Hormuz may not be as “closed” as headlines suggest. • He estimates Middle East oil exports are back near ~94%. • UAE’s “Hormuz Shuttle” is reportedly now being used by Saudi Arabia and Kuwait as well, with ~116 vessels involved. • Saudi exports appear to have adapted despite Red Sea disruptions. • US/CENTCOM is reportedly coordinating tanker movements through designated transit windows. • Iranian crude exports, particularly from Kharg Island, appear to be facing greater difficulties. • The emerging bottleneck may be STS-transfer capacity, rather than the physical movement of crude through Hormuz. If these estimates hold, the actual oil-supply disruption could be quite different from the “closed Hormuz” narrative.
