GoK increased excise duty on airtime from 15% to 20%, tax collection from excise duty fell by 19.8%. GoK increased capital gain tax from 5% to 15%, tax collection for has fallen by 13%. Higher tax rates=less tax collection Still, GoK believes Laffer curve is invalid🤷

Kenyan Business @BusinessIntelKE

Capital gain tax collected in first three months of the year declined 13% compared to last year despite government increasing the rate from 5% to 15%.

Please don't expose your ignorance here. 1. Most of the debts are refinanced at maturity so minimal impact on annual revenues. 2. Pending bills are debts, see 1 above. 3. THAT takes out 2T out of your 3T budget

Samson Ogola @SamsonOgola

Those saying Kenya can do with a budget of less than 3 trillion, let's look at some basic stats... 1. Debt obligations - 1.2 trillion 2. Pending bills (roads alone) - 900bn 3. Recurrent expenditures (salaries na kadhalika) - about 700bn 4. Money to counties - about 400bn

Waziri, lazima tuambiane ukweli. 1. Multiplying contributions 25x is not possible for any asset in Kenya. 2. Second, why not demonstrate it for the 1.8b already collected so that Kenyans can believe? Which investor will invest in something whose return is unknown?

@ehdande. I'm not defending the exemption but the income tax act itself exempts transfers between related parties or transfers in the course of business reorganization or restructuring. What is the section of the act the CS quoted in the exemption & why they didn't qualify?

Tuju should have himself to blame. Uhuru gave him remuneration package of a Cabinet Secretary for doing nothing. Where did he take all THAT money?

Stephen Mutoro @smutoro

Unfortunate to see 'rough' Tuju go down this way: Auction imminent after losing Sh2bn UK loan case, risks losing hotel and 20 acres of land in Karen. Question in the mind of many: Why didn't the Kenyattas, for whom he laboured for in risky situations, not bail him out of debt?

@ehdande. I know you understand that increase in payables is a source of cashflow. So six months credit means more dollars available in the economy. If monthly oil import bill is $50b, this will result in $300b in additional reserves. This should help improve the xchange rate.

Edwin H. Dande @ehdande

Why shilling is shrugging-off fuel deal. 1. Oil eventually to be paid in $s 2. Deal delays payment by 6 mons, nothing more 3. Buyer won’t wait for 6 mons to look for $s they know they need, they will buy any dip to build up $s 4. Oil Demand / Supply remains the same

@DavidNdii So under the G to G framework, who will be responsible for sourcing the dollars: GOK or the 3 OMCs who have been selected to import the fuel?

True. What qualification made Kanchori to be appointed the Chief Agent. He had not served as an agent before, not even for MCA. Did he have the personality, maturity, seniority and status to command respect and audience from all the players involved, like IEBC and deep state?

Edwin H. Dande @ehdande

Random Thoughts… 1. Rather bizarre about a Chief Agent writing abt why his candidate lost? It’s like a lawyer writing abt why his client lost a case. 2. But Azimio must have been very disorganized, yaani Kanchory was appointed Chief Agent without signing an NDA??!

Kenyan Debt: The Uhuru regime claimed that Ksh 600B used to go into debt service every year. That's about Ksh6T in ten years. Today, we owe Ksh 8.4T. Does it mean that our debt was Ksh14.4T? How much money did Uhuru really borrow or rather steal?
