For youth sports: It does not matter how good a kid is at a sport until after they go through puberty. There is no such thing as an 11 year old sports star. Do not over-index on early promise. Focus on exploration, fun, and cultivating interests. Not performance.
If someone tries to sell me a product or service with a cold phone call, the conversation is over in less than 10 seconds. “Hello my name is X and I’m calling from X company…” At this point I know they are likely reading from a script. End of phone call.

@PaulJSpacey 💯 and he’s grossly underestimating his role in the his teams play. Humility maybe. Player quality is surely a part of it, as is man-management skill but to say he doesn’t get his tactics played out- he’s oversimplifying it.

I'm often amazed at just how athletic some of the best players in college soccer are, but when you see guys like Leroy Sane accelerate to a sprint, it becomes slowly apparent exactly what "elite" truly looks like. Even watching on a TV, it's incredible.

@PaulJSpacey The proper guidance is good but too many times we see coaches hindering a player’s creativity or willingness to take people on with their dribbling. Many coaches make kids scared to lose the ball or try new things that might not work. Let the kids play. Let them show personality.
